That made me LOL as people were saying that about FSX when it first came out! How the times have changed!

An average pc these days will run FSX ok.. I know because that's what I run. As soon as P3Dv2 popped up, users were dashing at some speed to upgrade their graphics card to something with 4gig on board as a minimum. How many average Joes have a 4gig card? I run FSX on a 1.2gig Gtx560ti.. a castoff from a P3D user as it happens ;)

No, just FSX/SE along with all the developer programs (which can get pretty resource heavy especially when you have several open at the same time). I do run TS2016, Assetta Corsa, ARMA 2 and 3 and a bunch of other games on it though.

AH.. ok. I have a 1gig 460 up in the loft with a knackered fan which ran my Win7 rig before P3Dv2 came out forcing the 560Ti user (Ben) to move up to a 4gig card. I then retired the 460 :) I DO have another 560Ti on my WinXP rig which I keep going to beta FS9 scenery for a well known payware fellow :cpu:

Many thanks for all your very interesting replies, they provide plenty of food for thought.I'm obviously starting to consider my options when I come to replacing my trusty old,but still functioning, old pc.
Based on a number of factors,I would probably go for FSX but if I did so,I would still hang on to FS9 until such time that I was happy with it,particularly when it comes to installing some my existing favourite Classic British aircraft in FSX.
I suppose one incentive to move on would be the opportunity to install some different scenery and airports.
In terms of hardware the impression that I get is that a reasonable spec would suffice but I might sound out some opinions from around here.
A change would involve something of a learning curve anyway because it would probably involve Windows 10.
Once again thanks for the advice. EricT
