Plymouth Patrol

Post by T6flyer »

Fired up the sim today for the first time in ages. Seemed to have lost interest in it all for some unknown reason, but today thought would give it a go and was quite pleased with the experience (not to self, backtrack at Plymouth before attempting to get the Spitfire airborne!). If the novelty lasts, may go further afield tomorrow....Exeter perhaps!

Great pictures, Martin. I know that scenery well, from real life. ;) At the top left of the second picture, roughly above the prop spinner, is the former seaplane base RAF Mount Batten, and you can see the two preserved hangars. When I was there, the aircraft had long gone and it was a base for RAF air sea rescue launches. I'm glad I got to see them in service before they were replaced by helicopters.

I 've lived near Plymouth for over 40 years and worked in city for 25 of those. Perhaps I should venture over my home village and take some of that to please the locals. Spend virtually (sorry) all my time flying around Cornwall and Devon, just like have done for 100s of hours in real life. Don't need a map as know almost everywhere, except for the the Most Northern Part of Devon which is somewhere that we don't venture too often, unless we are going to Wales and then onward after clearing Customs to Eire.

Indeed is the Real Air machine. Can't seem to remember where I got the schemes from though? (Perhaps had too much to drink last night?!)

Happy New Year to all,

The PR.XIX "PS852" lookalike looks very much like something I think I released for some years back :-) PS852 had a rather interesting history with secret spy flight over China out of Hong Kong.
