HELP! Sim Rate

Post by adysmith »

My FSX installation has thrown a wobbly, with everything I can find set to normal time rate it is running at half speed, aircraft clock is taking two minutes to go one minute.

FS RealTime is not altering that.

If I set it to 2x sim rate it runs at normal speed.

Any ideas?

Actually I think the problem might just be more serious than that, the animation on "Freecell" at the end of the game seems suddenly slow and jerky, could the PC be running at half speed?

Clock seems to keep correct time, no idea how often it synchronises with internet time.

I'm probably the least competent person to answer, but if it was my computer, I'd try CTRL ALT DEL, Task Manager/ Performance, and see whether the performance looked anything like what I expect.
It will do no harm, and at least you'll know how things are running. ;)

Hmm.. run a scan to see if you've picked up one of those dreaded bitcoin viruses.

EDIT: Incidentally.. the last time I noticed FSX dragging it's heels for no apparent reason.. it was a bitcoin bug that was causing it. Problem is.. it's not specifically a bug so isn't identified as such. As Mike advised.. ctrl/alt/del to check what processes are running will show it.

Those are the results from resource monitor, AVG is not detecting any threats to my system, anybody got comments on the performance results?

Hi Ady :hello:
Rather than clog up the system with more screen shots, I'll just say for now that some of my numbers are miles different to yours.
I see that you are running PSP and Chrome, and have a feeling that these may be chewing up your resources.
I only run applications when actually needed; OK, if Chrome is your browser, that needs to run to keep you online, but PSP ??
When you are simming, you don't need Chrome, PSP, or hardly anything else.
I just looked at Applications while typing this; all that's listed is "Classic British Flight Sim . Post a reply Mozilla Firefox Status=Running"

The number of processes you're running is excessive. I just looked at mine and I have 45 which I consider to be OTT. This is a default number btw.. I've not tweaked anything to get it to 45. Don't think I've ever seen anything like 92 running :-O

Oh, I have shed loads of stuff running in the background! It's a wonder the FS even runs sometimes.
Unless there is something that is actively taking up a lot of CPU time, I find disabling all the non-essential processes tends to make bugger all difference TBH. :cpu:

A few years ago, I had a similar problem. It appeared to be caused by Rapport, which you are using. I had installed it at the suggestion of Natwest for on-line banking. I removed it, and the problem disappeared. Coincidence? Maybe, but it worked for me.

I right click on the task bar to bring up Task Manager. Moi, use three buttons? Non!

You can also use CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to pop up the task manager directly. :cpu:
