If you just want a moving map, rather than the full GPS, there are probably better solutions. I'll have a think.

Nigel don't know if any of these will work .. but here they are .
FS2002 Black Seahawks BAe Hawk T.Mk1 A.......file ID : bshawks1.zip ......from Flight sim .com . Best clockwork cockpit I've ever seen , lovely to fly . Model not as good as modern sim a/c 'tho . Has a controllable radar , but more as a Tcas / air to air radar .'Tho the light grey surround and fit look Tridentish . The Trids EKCo 290 orange screen radar would work well to find other a/c , if you roughly knew where they were . It's on the right panel at the bottom



A better picture . I think it's the same radar set , but in The LOCKHEED MARTIN F-16 Fighting Falcon (VIPER) by Kirk Olsson . From flightsim .com again fs 2002 or fs2004 .This is showing a target in the Tcas / intercept mode , just above the pilots left knee . Above that is a stationary 360 degree radar , maybe weather .



A shot with the weather type scan going , range can be changed up or down .



Lastly a '' Blu-Sky Mine Productions BAe ATP v1.0 '' BSMP ATP , again from flightsim.com[ i think ]in it's natural habitat of Kirkwall . There is a moving weather radar , but it's not controllable ; just scans from side to side and the picture is fixed . It's lower right of the screen and not all is shown .



Trid's radar was very good at detecting wx , also as mentioned could find a/c . But better still was finding the habour wall at Bilbao , together with the range enabling lining up with the approach / runway ,'cos the radio aids then were not good .

Frazer's moving map in his viscount looks great, its a pity its not a vc though However, it also looks quite nice in dm's trident. The stock fsx radar can be made to fit in place of the trident wx BTW
Don't think it's a simple job to graft the moving map into the trident. As it defaults to off in the viscount, without an additional switch somewhere to switch it on, code in the viscount's gauge folder needs altering, something I wouldn't dream of divulging without the authors permission

Wow, very many thanks Dave for those screenshots and ideas, really great to know that so many can help and give suggestions though must say that Dale has hit the answer on the head for me and appears also to have the backing of DaveG so very many thanks fo rall your help, really appreciated.

Now this is where I fall flat on my face as I do not have sufficient knowledge with aircraft, gauges etc in FSX to get them to work without an easy ABC Guide on 'How to do things' So although it is just the moving map I wanted as per your screenshot, I may just now have to keep on wishing.

I'm sure that can be worked around without altering the gauge code.

Just wonder as a last resort, I know I am asking hell of a lot here, but if any Panel Guru would or could with permission from the author of the Viscount Panel be willing to give up a bit of their time (asking a lot I know) to produce a moving map for the Trident as pictured by VC10 so that it could be placed into the library for use?

As far as I can remember the easy bit was installing the moving map or Decca as its called, just by pointing the new gauge in the trident to the viscount's panel cab file setting the position and size in the vc to suit The problem came as the switch to turn the Decca on in the viscount was on a bank of switches which didn't look easy to separate. Initially I had the whole bank on a pop up window which could be closed after switching the Decca on, but to make it more elegant I found the Decca "on" XML code and altered it so it defaulted on, hence not needing a switch
I dont see a problem with copy paste my modded panel cfg for the trident but would not like to distribute the altered viscount cab file without Frazer's say so
