Indeed mate. Why folk gather to a manic depressive gay junkie is beyond me too. I'm sure Waitrose will be thrilled to know what sort of custom they attractI never really liked him, but after hearing that, I'll never watch him again.
Joe/Mike..
Neither of those EH101 paints are real though I have them both

It's a default model in my hanger, and stays in my hanger... not that it's bad, mind you. . It just doesn't do much for me.
But about the livery, was it a scheme that was supposed to have been done in RW?

The original statement was by Alan Coren* who said 'the good thing about Sainsbury's is it keeps the riff raff out of Waitrose'. Proving dead people are funnier and more polite than Stephen Fry. Probably know more about technology than him as well but that's a whole other rant.
*Peace be upon him.

Joe..
The grey/red livery is (was) Royal Navy Search and Rescue and the yellow is (was) an RAF Search and Rescue scheme. Both belonged to Sea Kings
They're fictitious because neither the RN or RAF ever used them in that role. In fact.. neither use the EH101 per se but derivatives there of. The RAF use the Merlin HC3 and the RN use the Merlin Mk2 (ASW) and the Merlin Mk3 (Commando)

Read the other day the Junglie Merlins are now (i)Mk3's apparently, which gave them interim navalised features until the Mk4 is ready. I am sure Skippy will correct me on this.DaveB wrote: and the RN use the Merlin Mk2 (ASW) and the Merlin Mk3 (Commando)![]()

I just hope the (i) does stand for interim and nothing to do with Apple... lol
Re: Royal Navy EH101.
There are Merlins available from UKMIL. It might be for members only. This is a MK1, but I wouldn't know one from another to be honest.

Landing at RNAS Culdrose.

Extremely manoeuvrable in the right hands.

As of, ohh three months ago, all the Merlins are belong to the RN. The Junglies currently have Mk3 and 3A (the ones that we brought off the production line from the Danish). A number of Mk3 will become Mk3i, which is basically a folding head and better tie down points, I think the first one went into the factory about a month ago. The i is for interim, not sure it's a totally official term, to give an embarked capability while the rest of the fleet go through the full upgrade to Mk4 status. The main purpose of the Mk4 upgrade is to ensure the Junglies don't have to learn a new number for their logbooks... No sorry, it's a full marinisation programme, so automatic folding head and tail, common cockpit with the Mk2, standardising the cabin exits on the 3A* etc.
*No two cabin exits on the 3A are the same. Legend is that Augusta Westland showed the Danes a demo cabin that featured all the options available, due to a misunderstanding that should really only occur in a 1970s farce the Danes didn't understand and just ordered the demo cabin for their aircraft...
