Shh :shhh:

I think they do Dave but as you've mentioned before.. some plans are HUGE and I think Blake/Tiger falls into that category. Suitable for making a full-size version  I've not looked there for ages either and under the circumstances.. I don't think I will

EDIT: You're not gonna believe this Dave but I've just stumbled over a Jacoben set for Tiger :-O I put HMS Blake Sea King into the search engine.. honest

Well Dave, I decided to splash out at Jecobin the other month... slow progress as I am learning to model as I go (hey I am only an Industrial Designer by trade I should really know this stuff lol) but Skippy is still just about talking to me with my constant questions!

Hopefully your 820 Cab can land on this when I get my arse around to finishing it... I wish I could get my Sea King to work, it always freezes on my PC.. :dunno: something to do with the Virtavia protection.

I plan to do both Tiger and Blake as I know there are subtle differences in the Funnels and a few areas.

I also have this in the works, go easy on me chaps as I said I am still learning to model.... the hull needs to be re-done. Oh and if I ever have to model a Sea Cat launcher ever again it will be too soon... lol

I plan to make two versions of both ships, one similar to our carriers in detail and then strip some bits and bobs off to allow them to work better in larger formations... I wonder who would do crazy things like that :wasntme: ?

Now, who is going to make us a nice new FSX/P3D Wessex 3? ;)

:welldone: :excited: :welldone: :excited:

Now that has just blown me away  Will you be doing the exocet County's too? Slightly different aerial arrangement on the fwd mast but other than the launcher.. the rest of the ship is the same from what I remember. Plenty of scope with side numbers for the type too.. like the frigates and.. a proper gun DLG for the Ark

Oh lordy lordy. What a way to start a day

Hey lads!

These shots are no competition for Mr B's great shots, plus they feature the wrong boat/plane combination, and it's off topic to the original thread ... but ... :hide: since we're talking ship dev projects, hoping someday we'll see an updated R09/ Ark Royal IV ...

I normally only do Bucc work off the Vics, but I've been tinkering with the FS9 Iris F-4, and needed to get a few traps in to blow off steam ...

Fras, nice dev shots!

Hmm.. I'd love a Bucc I enjoyed flying but I've not been able to get on with any of the recent releases and for any number of reasons. Some models you're comfortable with and others.. not so. Thank gawd for the Sea Vixen

Yes, the Skysim Vixen is a lovely bird. The UKMIL paint radically improved its looks, and it gets flogged pretty consistently on my British boats. I get that weird "lights off/very low at low throttle, bright at full throttle" thing, which is a bit annoying. Like I think you said in SOH, could be DX10, not sure why.

Surprised you don't have the Flying Stations' Buccs. They're superb ... the cluster%$*& of the real world cockpits are modeled to exceptional accuracy  - great fun. And the S.2 has the recce crate, so ... that's reason enough for me! Wish a few more repaints had come (dying for a 208 Winter scheme) - but there was a few by Bruce, and overall, it's a great investment. Have yet to plumb all the depths of the nav systems modeled ... :hide:

I do have the FStn Bucc's mate and the UKMIL one too (model borrowed from Strikefighters - I understand - and FSX'd). I know Andy (Airtrooper) loves the FStn Bucc and speaks very highly of it but it's one of those models I never felt 'in charge' of if that makes sense. Darned shame because if it flew like the Sea Vixen.. I'd be all over it like a rash  Both FStn Bucc's are heavy on my rig too plus I have an annoying cylinder coming up from the display which takes a second or so to disappear after I've goofed outside. I still have the S2 installed though it's outside FSX in a holding hangar at present :)

Ah got it Dave.

I get the funky cylinder thing too - is, if memory serves, code connected to the location of the AR probe.

Handling-wise, I also find it a bit trick to hand fly - refuses to stay trimmed, but since I have no sense of what it was in real life, I've just assumed it was that way. A trickier model, for sure. It makes sense, though, being longish with a shortish wingspan, that it not be particularly close-coupled, which it kind of feels like it is. Maybe the elevator did indeed have that much authority. But again, I'm no expert. It certainly flies smoother at speed, though, and have heard from those in the know (one a former navigator) that below 300 kts, it was a right pig, very much out of its element. But things smoothed out by 400 kts and over. In that sense, Flying Stns have captured the stark differences very well.

Thanks Dave and Andy,

A long way to go yet, in fact I have not touched the Glam in some time, that being said the Wife and Kids are off back to Blighty this weekend for a few weeks so hopefully a few more free evenings there to get stuck back in.

I do intend to do a Exocet DLG too, I am not sure if you noticed but the plans are for that refit. I just wanted to do the original version as it was when she escorted Eagle on her last cruise in 70-71, maybe one day we will do Eagle too!

Incidentally I am not sure if you have seen it but I found the documentary by the BBC Journalist - James Cameron when he joined Eagle in the Far East called "The last of the Gunboats" on YouTube recently, I remember seeing it as a kid, some good footage on there.

Ok as this now has nothing to do with 849Sqn flying from CU I'll get my coat and leave lol.

Cheers,

Fraser
