Wicked pics, Dave.

Say, where did you find an FSX RNAS Culdrose? Was not aware of one, esp with lovely HP T2s as AI (or are those statics?). Sorry if I'm late to the game (I'm a full 8 hours behind you lot, so that's my excuse ... :wasntme:

cheers,

Totally agree, great pix!
AEW Gannet, top choice. ;)

That's a bit show-off, though, catching the first wire, and properly lined up,too! :$

Serious question; is that normal procedure, dropping the tail hook?
No radio request etc?

Hi Guy's :hello:

Cheers

Re Culdrose.. there are a couple flying about. The one in my pics is part of VFR Airfields Vol1(v2) by UK2000 (payware). The other I know of is by Tony Meredith and comes with Predannack too (freeware). The Jetstreams are AI and part of an unfinished project by Rick Piper which includes flyable versions (incl RAF).

Re the hook.. I don't know if all fixed wing aircraft did this but it may well be. Certainly, the Gannet did. It's a visual signal to the carrier that it is ready to leave the holding pattern and land. This is confirmed by the colour cover of Warpaint#23 showing 'A' Flt Gannet AEW3 263-H flying down the stbd side of Hermes mit hook lowered :) Generally.. the vid you see online will show the fighters joining to port then doing a turn to port for landing. It's probable that on occasion.. the landing pattern will get a bit full so any other aircraft wanting to join will hold. I guess the natural thing would be to get the jets down first but even they might hold if a lot return at once :)

It's less a request to land more an indication that the tail hook is working. Generally you don't just fly by a carrier and ask to land, it's quite tightly coordinated to ensure aircraft arrive back in the right order to minimise the time the ship spends on a constant predictable course, which is generally in the opposite direction to the one it wants to be going in!

Nice series of shots Dave, I was impressed by how good the Vixen in the background looked and then remembered I'd made it!!

Thanks for jumping in Skip.. I'd hoped you would

The shot with the Vixen in the background was posed to show just that. Glad you like it  They're all great versions of Vic though I'll openly admit the last two are my faves. The list of 'wants' remains large though. A new ArkIV, Hermes (pre-hump), Eagle, maybe Centaur and Bulwark/Albion.. all to the same standard as the final Victorious of course. Will any of us live long enough *-)

You have me to blame there Dave, I managed to score an Oculus Rift some months ago and since all my texturing time has been taken up with actually flying the sim! We would agree with all of the above! I can picture one of your epic formations with that lot in your "simboats" folder :agree:

Oh yes

I've just had a quick look in my Boats folder and it's a paltry 7.27gb so I've got plenty of room for more ships :excited: I'm so tempted to buy the plans for Blake to lob at Mr Garwood but I know he'd lob them back twice as fast

Hat's off to Flying Stations. I and many others eagerly await your next creations
