Another FS9 query

Post by Vancouver »

Is there a way of fling in windowed mode, full screen and lose the menu bar?

I have three monitors for FSX and in order to use one screen for a moving map and another for Planning, PDF's, exterior programs and Wx, I have to run FSX in Full screen windowed mode using pseudo_full_screen.exe and I get better FPS to boot.

Trying the same in FS9 and the Menu bar is always evident as it does not vanish when the ALT key is held.

I seem to remember achieving this in the past but cannot remember how I managed it and on this occasion Google failed me.

Using Alt & Tab under these circumstances causes screen flashing and quite a delay while it sets itself up, so not satisfactory for my purposes plus it takes over the other two screens by blacking them out.

To run fullscreen in FS9.. use alt+crtn (carriage return) ;)

EDIT: Oh.. to get the task bar back without reverting to windowed mode in FS9.. use the Alt key. To get rid of the task bar.. just click on the screen :cpu:

By the way Alex.. if you're missing all your geese.. they're here!! They have lots of young too so next time they return, you'll be awash with the blighters

Hi Alex,
you might have some luck with this, .. states it works with most games ,>> removing the window frame while staying in window mode. (not fullscreen)
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=2675769

there is a video discussing it's functions here.
http://westechsolutions.net/sites/Windo ... ing/manual

and there's this for fsx and P3D, .. maybe a work around for fs9??

I confirm it (twitch app) removes the window frame with blue at top
then you'll be left with the menu bar which can be removed by right clicking and check the hide menu..
not sure how to get the window frame back, yet!

EDIT
found one way to get the window frame back
shut down FS9 and start it up again.
window frame is back

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Yes that was not exactly what I wanted. Just stopping the program seems to restore frames. Actually I stuffed an old fs9.cfg in and that seems to have added the function I was after seems this entry

HideMenuFullscreen=1

was missing from a basic install of fs9

Thanks again - that borderless thing gave me a start when one of the buttons came up and stated this is irreversible. But I pressed it anyway and the border vanished. :help: But just turning the program off and rebooting the sim and all was OK again. phew!

What is it with us this insatiable need to tinker? 8)

Dave - over (BC) here we see relatively few of these geese, however I have to wonder why we opted for the Beaver as the National Emblem and let the Yanks have the Bald headed Eagle when that is what I see thoosands of. *-) them and friggin' Raccoons getting into the garbage.

I'm still not sure what you wanted Alex but that's how mine works  If it's hidemenufullscreen=1 .. then all well and good ;)

I'm not surprised you don't see CG's much as they seem to be here just about all year round! I'm sure they're not but they do seem Omni-present :) You have the American Bald Eagle.. we have your Geese.. what the hell have the Yanks got?? *-)

When I first read Alex' post, I thought precisely what Dave said, that's how I used to do it.
Simple, reversible and instant.

Alex, there's more mucking about with things than doing the end result in most hobbies.
I think that's where the therapy cuts in.
I used to spend hours fiddling with scenery on my HO railway, and some nights never ran a loco round the track.
My Dad used to be in and out of his boat, making plywood cupboards and so on. Sailing time was a fraction of his pleasure.
Mrs Airspeed sorts beads and other haberdashery for ages, but I've been waiting for months to get a repair to my track pants.
As they say, we're all different in the same way.
