Re: All our yesterdays...
Funny how your mind works...
Speak for yourself!, I hear you whisper gently
Prompted by incoming mosquitoes, (non-DH kind), this song title popped into my head this morning:

Judging by the year of release, seems I was four at the time. Haven't thought about it since whenever.

Re: All our yesterdays...
Following yesterday's post, I visited a respected (by me) local, in the nearby elderly care facility.
Walked into his room to find him surrounded by family, on morphine etc, and evidently knocking on Heaven's door.
Stayed with them for 15 minutes or so, talking about him and them.
Came away with an even greater appreciation of the fine sunny weather, and the life that I have, and a reminder of how it will all be taken away some time.
"So cheer up my lads, bless 'em all."
Love y'all

Re: All our yesterdays...
Had a fortunate meeting today.
Here's a brief quiz for you, me hearties:
If you had THIS view, what would you be in?

If you don't know now, you never will!
And parked next to it was a chatty owner of this Honda Blackbird.
It's cost him $70,000 over the 4 years ownership. He was stopping over whilst taking it home with some parts.
Hooligans tried to steal it, did $4,000 damage including wrecking the ignition and fairing.
They also attacked his car, smashing the windscreen and other bits. Either he's got a bad reputation in his town, or plain unlucky.

Re: All our yesterdays...
Just occurred to me Mike -
Does 'chatty' have the same meaning that it does here ?
/
/
/
i.e. scruffy.
Cheers

Ah - this one could run & run Keith
To Me, as an east-midlander, tatty means old and worn i.e. shabby but not necessarily dirty as chatty does. According to my in-house expert, chatty suggests an unkempt smelly person.
Cheers

Re: All our yesterdays...
Slovenly , that would be my word for that,
here it is in a sentence.
Look at yourself in the mirror You slovenly sloppy boy.
Daddy ddaddy am i a werewolf?
Shut up and go comb your face.
and is not my fault if by some coincidence, which being no doing of my own, somebody just happens to sport wiskers.

Re: All our yesterdays...
That's the one, Keith, talkative,
The motorcyclist started talking to me as I was photographing the Bugatti.
He went on to describe bits of the car that impressed him, and details of his own bike, which he said, was capable of 300Kmh.
I didn't ask him to prove it.
Isn't that typical of this forum?
Not a word about the subject, but a detailed discussion on the meaning of an expression!
Oh, well, payback for all my nit-picking!
