Ummm thanks Paul...I hope it's not a major flaw because I installed a 970 a couple of weeks ago!!
Please don't ask me how it's performing, because after 5 days of frustration and tweaking I still can't get FSX to run on my PC without CTD's every time I try to set up a flight, I'm close to giving up.
I think the upgrade I did was a waste of money, it's time to dump my AMD and go for i7.
I have a GTX980, ( 4Gb GDDR5 ) running four monitors, seems to be working OK, I get 30 FPS in FSX Gold with great ease.
(rest of system is quite high spec as well)
Old pilots never die, they just run out of runway.
Robbie, I have had the same problem as you, CTD after having had my computer upgraded to an i5 and a new Graphic Card fitted a GTX 760.
After many months of frustration and nearly giving up on FSX I came across a thread on one forum (cannot remember which as I went to many) and there was a suggestion to make sure that FUISPC was up to date as it cured a lot of CTD's that some members were having.
After downloading the updated version of FUISPC I did not suffer any more CTD's. Not saying that this may work for you but would be one idea to try.
Nigel.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
I have just put together a new i7 system with the ASUS 970, the performance is really outstanding.
P3D is like a completely new game for me with frame rates that my old AMD/GTX650 would have ignited just thinking about!
In “Steam” multiplayer (no add-ons) consistently over the 200fps mark!
But I suppose the issue is, are NVIDIA pulling a fast one?Who cares!
All this tech stuff goes right over my head and who, in the name of sanity, would spend £500 on a 980 Graphics card, how good does it need to be?
Get yourself the 970, I say, and spend the £200 saving on some extra RAM

Hi Nigel,
Yes I'd heard that too, so I have FSUIPC4 "paid" it was the first thing I bought, I'm doing my best to set it up properly.. but sometimes I'm not sure what's going on with it!, last night I followed some Utube vids on how to tweak the FSX cfg, pause tweak, pause tweak!!, then I loaded PMDG T7 at EGLL just to check if there had been any progress, I've got to say that I spent close to 4 hours going through the manual, setting up the FMC, testing out GSX and EZdoc etc, and it did not crash!!, feeling almost brave enough for a quick trip up to Glasgow, getting only 9fps average, with sliders and settings as suggested (low).
OK so I'm ready to taxi, parking brake off press "." ...nothing...OK lets try brakes lever forward on pedestal, that works OK "brakes on" warning goes off on the EICAS, but FSX P/brake red bar, lower left of screen is still there?, I tried reassigning the key, also tried deleting it, that doesn't work either, so back to FSUIPC4 and try to assign a key to release brakes, managed that ok but still the darned brakes won't release, I gave up at 03:30 am...07:00 GMT lol, might try again today If my blood press has returned to normal.
If I can't get better than 9 fps after all this work...then I think it's off to the menders for a total rebuild,
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 processor, 3200 Mhz 4 core....ready for the scrap yard..like they say "you can put lipstick on it, but it's still a pig"
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems. Just a passing thought, as you appear to be having trouble with FSUIPC as well it might be worth posting a question to Pete Dowson on his FSUIPC Forum. Just a thought and if you do - I hope you find the answer.
