Banned for unclear reasons
I am able to log onto this forum, but when I go to the file library, it would not accept my ID and PW that I used on the forum successfully. After several tries, the web site locked up and got me banned. How to fix this?

Hello there
Well.. you only need your username and password to login to the forum. No user has upload rights for the library.. even I can't upload to the library.. only Ben, our webmaster. The library is, in effect, a repository.. somewhere for users to download files, not upload them

just a heads up.
No log in at all is required to DL from the library at present.
Perhaps that's by design. if not , the hanger door is wide open.

I didn't think there was a need to log in for the library.

Re: Banned for unclear reasons
There is a 'login' button on the Library main page.. perhaps this shouldn't be there.. I dunno. The original plan was that admin and resident devs could upload to the library and this may have been the case at one time. Joe Public has never been able to upload there.. for security reasons if nothing else.
Most folk go to the library, scroll down to see what they want and hit the download button. For whatever reason, Troph tried to login to the library page.. I guess he saw the login button and presumed this is what he needed to do. It's the first time this has happened to my knowledge

Re: Banned for unclear reasons
Was he trying to upload though Dave?
AFAIK the library has always been closed to upload and that is the way it is intendended.
Anything of mine, like yours has always been a not to Ben who alon has picked it up and uploaded/
I used to assume that the library was for log in but a long time back when I realised it didn't seem so I ;logged aout and had full access.
Food for thought in finding out just what it should mbe and perhaps making that clearer.
Personally I thing it should be a log in to download and remain an admin task to upload, with perhaps a few of us able to relieve Ben's load.

Hello Mate..
I don't know if his intention was to upload.. he didn't say. As I said above, I guess he saw the login button and presumed he needed to login to the library in order to download files
I'm sure we (the Royal we) had logins and passwords for there once upon a time or at least.. we could have them setup if so desired. I never bothered as everything I did was linked to a post/thread (VA repaints for example) and I used my space for that

I sorted this out last night with 'Troph' on our multiplayer flight last night. Yes, Dave, he thought he had to log in to download and kept trying until it banned him.
All better now
