Dave B, Jens, ( and any other Lincoln owners here ) ...I've just started using Des Braban's Lancaster sounds, and extremely good they are too. I even used them for the Plane Design Lancaster and Lancastrian. Here's the Readme, and what he says about the 'blowing down a toilet roll tube' effect is spot on. It's eliminated with this sound pack ( Dave, I think these are better than the Shackleton ones )...

Avro Lancaster Sound package by Des Braban.

As with most sound packages, they are designed whereas one sound does for two or maybe four engines thus giving a "blowing down a toilet roll tube" sound. This is where this sound package is different.

These sounds have been designed so that each engine has its own individual startup and shutdown sounds giving them their own character. With each engine sounding slightly different, you get a good rich sound as they all work together. Unfortunately the limitations of flight sim present a few problems which I can't overcome, there's the odd tiny crackle here and there but I've done my best.

You'll see what I mean after taking off and flying over the top of your head whilst in the tower view.
If you have headphones or large speakers on your system, then you are in for a treat.
I hope you enjoy these sounds which I have used from "free to use" soundfiles plus some from FS9.

Installation:

Just the same as any other sound package. Copy all of these sound files into your aircraft sound folder and that's it. Have fun.

Des Braban

I've deleted the Wind.wav file because that was a bit irritating, and I might use the original flap and gear .wavs because it sounds like the motors are right behind the pilot's head instead of out in the engine nacelles and wings. Anyway, try Des' sounds - I think you'll be rather pleased.

The file name is lncsnd1.zip and its in the FS2004 section of Avsim's library - can't link you directly due to an Opera browser glitch, but it comes up straight away in a search there. :)

Rgr that Paul.. I probably have that soundfile already but it's just as easy to download it again  These sounds can't sound too much like a Lancaster.. growlers don't really sound like Merlins. I've only flown it twice but I know the soundset that comes with it is pants 8)

Dave, I've not flown inside a Lincoln ( though, as I keep reminding people ad nauseam, I have been inside two on the ground ;) ), Des Braben's sound pack gives me something similar to what I might expect to hear - and that's half the battle won. I'm very satisfied with the result, and recommend it. :)

I'm running it in P3Dv2.4. I installed it using the Estonia Migration Tool - no problems at all. :)
Thanks for the info I can feel my credit card slipping out of my pocket!

Lovely stuff, Jens. I'm not too keen on the Tiger Force white paint scheme generally, but that one's so nicely done that I shall have it.

Got a link ? :)
