hmm.. I see what you mean about the carpet.. err, curtains :worried:

For my part.. a lack of fully detailed interior doesn't matter. I sometimes look 'inside' when I first get a model but that's about it.. unless I need to get in the back to open doors e t c. Someone who know's what they're doing could re-do the bumps. I wish to god I knew how to do it as I'd snap the Sunderland up.. if on sale of course
Anyhoo.. I will get this at some point but more likely when it's in a sale ;)

Panel lines; yes, I see what you mean. They are a little ..ahem...Corgi-esque aren't they. Something else that disappoints is the navigators position, or lack thereof, and which is curtained off. Have a look here...

Actually, it looks more like someone's hung up two pieces of grey Axminster. It would have been nice to have had the nav and W/op stations modeled, along the lines of the FS Add Ons Hudson and Anson, and indeed the Virtavia B-29. I suppose the lack of a bulkhead anywhere would mean having to model the entire fuselage interior right back to the tail turret. Nevertheless, an opportunity lost, I think.
Word down in the bog is that it's a completely "in house" development. As there is now only one occupier in the house.......................!!! *-)

Hiya Fungus :hello:

Thanks for the info ;) Having just bought the Virtavia Intruder in the mistaken belief it was a remake (Frank S said elsewhere that to the best of his knowledge, all stuff previously released under the Alpha banner and resold under Virtavia was recompiled to full FSX SDK).. I find that the onlt files to have changed are those which said 'Alphasim' and now say 'Virtavia'. I feel robbed :| Wish I'd have bought the Lincoln instead 8)

Fungus, not sure I follow you - are you saying that Virtavia is now a one-man band ?

Dave, what a coincidence. I was looking at the Razbam A-6 package this afternoon, which is on sale for for $15.25

http://www.razbamsims.com/store/product ... ucts_id=50

I'm awfully tempted - the Intruder is a real favourite of mine.

Well mate.. having bought the Buckeye.. I don't think I'm going to buy another RAZBAM product. Their FD's are just too unpredictable for me. Having said this.. the Virtavia Intruder is available at 50% off at PCAviator (Aus) and also flies like a piece of sh1t! It's a nice external model mind you. The panel is classic 'old hat' Alphasim so you know what to expect. If you already have the Alphasim model.. don't buy the Virtavia version because they're pretty much identical. As I mentioned above.. where the old one said Alphasim, the new one says Virtavia plus you get smoke coming out of the jet pipes.. not above and below the fuselage. The takeoff speed seems incredibly high for a carrier aircraft (even with the tanks on fumes).. it 'flies on' on pretty much closed throttle and the view out for carrier ops is restricted without judicious use of shift+Car 8)

I've no idea how the Razbam model compares. They tend to score well on FR's but their FD's are just not to my liking. Nav's are outrageous (but so are a lot of others) and the smoke flickers. If you're comfortable with the Corsair.. it may be worth a shot but I don't like the FD on the Corsair.. or the GR7/9.. OR the Buckeye so I've had enough.

EDIT: the sale price isn't a lot to lose though ;)

Thanks for the info Dave. I'm fairly satisfied with the Corsair, so I think I'll risk the Intruder. As you say, I can't lose with the sale price and I have 125 reward points at the Flightsim Store which will knock it down a bit more. I might even get the EA-6B Prowler at the same time - the type is on its final deployment with the US Navy right now aboard the USS George H W Bush. The USMC is going to keep it in service a bit longer, but another interesting carrier aircraft is passing into history.

Well, I got them both, and guess what ? They fly like DOGS ! Utterly impossible to trim for level flight - you thought the Hudson was twitchy ? Its a good job I found the autopilot switches ( amidst a veritable thicket of switches, and only one in ten functional ! ). Not the wisest purchases I've ever made, to say the least, but I'll persist for a while...a very short while, probably. Its a shame because they look nice from the outside. Here's the Prowler..

Hello Mate :hello:

Well.. it's at times like these I wonder why I buy FS models. Having been disappointed with every RAZBAM model I've bought thus far (as far as FD's go).. I bought their Intruder too. I feel like cancelling my Paypal account and destroying my pc. :|

One thing I'm surprised about is how similar the FD's are between Razbam and Virtavia. You'd expect one to be sh1te but not both.. and in equal amounts. :-O
