CAA says at least 3 minutes. Whenever I followed a Herald into Bournemouth in my trusty Cherokee, ATC always insisted on 4 mins seperation.

FAA regs for the 747-800 (the first one I found) states 10miles if I read it correctly :worried: You can work that out in minutes yourself

ATC always insisted on 4 mins seperation.
Presumably so that it gave them time to get the lumbering giant of the runway?

When I read that ( er , well. skimmed through it, ) I wasn't sure whether it was a very elaborate joke or not . Incidentally, the golden rule for following heavies in a light aircraft , apart from keeping well away from them, or not doing it at all, is keep above the glidepath of the preceding heavy, and land further down the runway than it did

Can you imagine.... 747 N*** keep the speed up, you are 1 for landing with a Cessna 172 behind..

A bit on the serious side ,

Yes I've been made aware of that procedure before. But- being I'd probably never be in that situation I don't think about it much , you know.. :dunno:

anyway..
In FS (mines) I don't have those issues .. so performing a nose to tail landing isn't a problem, Thankfully!

well , the 74 landed, I did a go around.. ;)

- I am a little jealous of the guys in the Cessna. I wish I had the time and money , (desire?) to fly enough to gain the skills needed. to fly aand land in class "B" space and airport
I've flown a lot over the years , in many types. The largest being a Queen Air flying with my instructor who often left the right seat open for me ..
Local Florida from KLNA to KGNV , KEVB, KUST KSWF.. But only above 3000 up to 8500 and back down -as I'm not rated,,, just practicing dead reckoning and enjoying the time up there .. flown in a Goose, Super 18, Beech A35, Bell 208, R44, Huey, Flown V35, Grumman Traveler, Pipers and Cessna four seaters , AirCam , Remos G3-600, Wheeler Express, Evektor Sportstar, Stolp Starduster, Citabria, take off and landing most. although defiantly not the tail draggers.
Flying is a ton of fun, I love it. But .. I wouldn't want to do it for a living... Odd perhaps for some to understand,
I'm an electrician , my first love, (and craftsman) ...someone has to keep the lights working for pilots when they come back down. . It's My calling. :)
anyway All my experiences are squat compared to the likes of Peter , Andy , John. Dave, etc etc etc

ok ,back to joking..

I must say I'm shocked you suggested you skim over my postings... :-O thee effrontery!

j/k ;)

for your enjoyment.. er.. or not.
