Hi Ben,

Yes I did try http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download ... aspx?id=35 in the very beginning but a little voice in my head suggested I try it again which is what I did and BINGO. Buy that man a pint, even better two pints

Having spent most of the week on this I decided to have one more go. So I searched the net for an answer to "c0000006" and found pages of stuff but no real solution except that this error code is caused by not registering the product (FSX). But if I cannot get a full install how can I register? So I downloaded the DirectX updates file and installed it, restarted my pc and uninstalled FSX, restarted the pc and reinstalled FSX. It worked! I've been doing this all flipping week but obviously doing something wrong. Anyway FSX installed and registered and Acceleration installed and registered and it is all working.

Same with P3D "0xffffff7" is their version of non registration - I think, from the forum. So, again uninstall, restart and install, run as administrator and straight into registration.

Now all (?) I have to do is add all the scenery packages, add-on aircraft and bells and whistles - that should keep me going for a few weeks.

Thank you Ben for giving me the final kick to try one more time, I appreciate you're taking the time and trouble to help.

Thank you to everyone else for pitching in, this is what makes this hobby so great; there is always someone somewhere who has the expertise and experience to get us poor souls out of the mire.

Well done for sticking with it Allan and glad you're sorted

I've had problems with FSX scenery (EarthSim scenery to be exact) since I installed their IoM. I got 4 out of 5 running well with everything showing but not the 5th and as luck would have it.. the 5th (The Isles of Scilly) is the one I use all the time. Last night, after a fortnight of wasting my time.. I took the lot off  I managed to get an un-fiddled with set of Autogen files off Keith.. renamed the old ES directory and made a new one with the old name and set about re-installing it all again today. The first part has gone well.. Treescapes vols 1 to 3. I didn't even uninstall these but they disappeared when I removed IoS, IoM, Ald, Gue and Shawbury so I had little option but to install TS again 8) Support at ES has been zero and you can't ask for support on the ES forums as the reply is always.. raise a support ticket. This is great. You raise a support ticket and hear nothing :wall: I heard more back on here than I did over there!!! Often.. all you need is a poke with a sharp stick and everything will fall into place ;)

Sharp stick? More like a kick up the a@se in my case.

No matter, all I have to do now is reload all my aircraft one by one since transferring them en mass has left me with a load of 'fatal error' messages.... As a hobby it's a bit like :wall: , its good when you stop.

Onwards.
