Hi
Just trying Falcon 4.32, very early days and 185 VFS are holding a training evening next week. To take part I need to install TeamSpeak 3 - free to start pay later. I also need a pair of headphones and a mike.
Does any forum member have any experience of TeamSpeak 3?If so I should be glad to read their comments. Also recommendations for a mike and headphones would be welcome.

I've used TS3 since it came out and TS2 for years before that, I'm also a moderator on the SOH TS server so should be able to help you out if you have specific questions. As to costs the TS3 client is free for normal users and server licences can be obtained for free for not-for-profit outfits (our SOH TS server licence doesn't cost us any money). Normally the only time costs are incurred is if you join something like a gaming 'clan' which charges for membership.
As to headphones there are lots out there to choose from and it's a very personal choice depending on whether you want over the ear, fully enclosed, behind ear or earbud types. The cheapest tend also to be the lightest but they are also the shortest lived as longevity is not a feature of headsets unfortunately. I've been gaming for over 15 years and I've probably gone through half a dozen headsets in that time. By comparison I have a set of good quality stereo headphones I bought when I was working in a recording studio 25 years ago and they still sound and work as well as the day I bought them.

I use Microsoft's LifeChat LX 3000 model. Not expensive and the quality build is pretty high and robust. They also double for Skype type phone calls.

Hi Hobby
I can't comment on TeamSpeak I'm afraid. As Larry said, you pretty much get what you pay for with headsets and the world is your proverbial oyster.. you can spend as little or as much as you like and there'll be a headset to accommodate you
The set I have were cheap as chips.. bought for occasional use and they do the job just fine. They're from Logitech and are labelled 'Stereo Headset H110'. Unlike many headsets (by headset, I mean they come with a boom mic built-in which swings out of the way when not in use).. this set covers both ears (stereo being the clue I suppose). I've found them comfortable and the mic has worked fine without you having to almost swallow it
Connection is by 2 mini jacks (one for the headphones and one for the mic) and they're easy to setup using windows own software
