£25 postage!!
I spend over £30 each time, so I get free postage - although after my 10% discount it's usually below £30 but they still don't charge me.
Yes, Mike, I use the decal "softener".
I used to use Micro Set and Micro Sol, but these days I use a drop of X20 (Tamiya acrylic thinner), though I've heard that pretty much any IPA will do just as well, in the water before soaking and the Micro Sol after I've applied them.
It also varies from model to model. If the decal adhesive is not so good, I use Klear (Future) to set them. I don't usually have an issue with decals breaking up unless they are rubbish decals anyway!
The good thing about Micro Sol is that it tightens the decals down to the surface very nicely (I always leave it for a day - though for tricky applications I may add one or more extra sloshes within that period). A very good example of this is my Red Arrows Hawk, on the canopy detonation cord decals. I tried doing them with Klear first and it really messed them up - badly wrinkling them.
I took them off, gave them a wash (I kid ye not) and reapplied them with Micro Sol and they turned out absolutely smashing!
It's very good for putting decals on uneven surfaces.
I also sometimes use graphite powder to dull down decals that look too new, and all of them get a matt varnish to finish off.
Hope that helps you, Mike
