Texture Check..

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guys..

Can anyone with the ES IoM scenery check Maughold Head Lighthouse for me. I've looked at the real one and the ES version doesn't look fully textured.. it doesn't look like the real one anyway

If yours looks like this, I'll leave well alone. Darren has already had more than his fair share of emails off me over the last week

Okey doh mate

I wasn't sure if the top of the lighthouse was untextured but the real one is also black. Looking again at that shot, the rails down to it are black but the wall below and the base of the lighthouse don't look right. Again, the real one is white but I guess it has been different colours over the years.. I doubt permanent though as white is the standard colour. Maughold Head isn't operated by Trinity House but I wouldn't have thought that would have made a difference.

Hi Dave,
Here it is in my FSX. Looks basically like the current Google pics, but I haven't put shots side by side to compare:

I've had a look at the model in MCX. It's all textured as per your pic Dave, but for some reason the grey concrete has been mapped to a single pixel of the "concrete02.dds" texture, hence the lack of any definition. 8)

Rgr that guys and thanks for checking. Darren is spared another support ticket

Considering the amount of detail shown in some areas.. something 'standalone' line the lighthouse should, I think, have had a bit more care taken over it. Incidentally, the IoM has become the first scenery to give me a 'Your computer has used all available memory'. WTF you're supposed to do to NOT get this I really don't know. Were I using FS9, ok.. you accept this sort of thing but on Win7 64bit.. err.. no. I get this without all the sliders maxed out too 8)

Anyway.. thanks again fellas

Do it in P3D I have no memory issues, but I didn't have issues with FSX either...
