Fiddling with AI?

Post by migman29 »

Here's one.

I fly mostly around UK(so not that bothered about rest o'th'world).

In the "Aircraft030528.txt",I have the following entries for DC-3's:

AC#37,120,"Douglas DC-3"
AC#38,120,"Douglas DC-3 Paint1"
AC#39,120,"Douglas DC-3 Paint2"
AC#40,120,"Douglas DC-3 Paint3"

Fs9's AI gives me an Emerald Harbour Dak with an "N" reg. landing at places like
Caernarvon in Wales.

Obviously,that's not quite right.
I have a possy of Air Atlantique and the old Derby Airways Dak paints to play with,so to replace
that Emerald Harbour Dak with an Air Atlantique or Derby kite, could I simply substitute the contents
of the above texture files(Paint 1,2,3)and then edit the aircraft config.with the info pertaining to the
textures I've put in,i.e registration, airline and so on?

Fankyoooooo.

Yep, that should work fine. Just don't change the "title=" line in the cfg as that is what is referenced in the traffic file.

You certainly could, but the DC3 is a lousy AI aircraft, it flies with its flaps out.

(Sorry, that applies to FSX not FS9).

You can probably correct that by changing its cruise speed in the aircraft.cfg...If I remember correctly it is something to do with the speed needs to be in to be TAS and not IAS because when the IAS gets down to a certain figure the flaps come down. So if you have put the cruise speed in IAS then as you climb past a certain altitude with the TAS increasing the actual IAS is decreasing. I even had an AI Boeing 727 doing it at cruise altitude but for years I had not followed and watched it in cruise, but when I did see it, I fixed it easily.
