Looks good, but I'm not buying anything that's made by that particular modeller.

Hi Dave, sorted my slip & turn, couldn't get it to budge at all & was pulling my hair out & :wall: (not that there's much left :$ ) so tried the Classic Wings Sopwith Camel to see if it was a config issue and it wasn't working there either  and then Autorudder popped into my head & gave me a good :poke:  :hide: :$

Anyway, working again. & god knows how long I've had that switched on. Can't remember playing with any of FSX's Realism settings for a very long time ... *-)

Hiya Gordon :hello:

Ah yes.. autorudder :wall: It's one of those things you forget to change whenever you have to 'rebuild' your FSX (or FS9) config. I've done it myself loads of times over the years and wondered what the hell was going on  Glad you had the 'where with all' to try something else and let the penny drop. I wouldn't have thought of autorudder off the top of my head

You know, I'm really rather tempted by this one. However, I think Rise of Flight has rather spoiled me as far as flight modelling and especially ground handling go. So much so, that I'm worried I'd find a vintage taildragger like this in FSX a bit... lifeless? *-)

Actually, I haven't fired up RoF for a while either. It's about time I did. Should make for some 'interesting' landings after all this time! ;)

Completely understood Nick ;) These things are undoubtedly much more fun with bullets coming out of the front end or whizzing past your ears from behind. It's lovely to look at though it will never be my favourite model to fly. It's something different and nice to jump into every now and then even though the 'experience' is never more than warm ;)

Mostly 'whizzing past my ears from behind' Dave! Having said that though, I seemed to spend a lot of time in RoF just doing circuits and bumps. (and there were some pretty big bumps! ;) ) There's something about the tension of carrying-out a respectable landing without breaking bits off the aeroplane that I find really convincing in this sim (especially in something like the Camel :-O ).

Cheers,
Nick

Indeed Nick and the Camel is a good example of how good a model can be for free! It's one of the few taildraggers I have that I can see out of to land.. the majority, especially those with Vickers machine guns up front, sit the machine gun smack bang in your field of view so you either have to use TrackIr to see out or goof from an external view. I find shift+return can distort the view too much and I'm never quite sure how much pitch up/down I've got! No such problems with the Camel. In fact, seeing where you're going is probably the easiest thing about being in the Camel
The 504 isn't as good as the Camel to see out of IMHO and shifting to the front seat doesn't make a great deal of difference.. especially given that it's a camera view so panning is nigh on impossible 8)
