A question rather than a HU.. Iris F15

Post by DaveB »

Hi Chaps :)

Does anyone know if the Iris F15 was ever patched to SP2? I've just realised the smoke is N/S not W/E (in line with the engines) and I noticed grass on the other side of the runway at Culdrose showing on the opposite side :-O
I've looked all over the Iris site (including the latest forums) and it's like the FSX version never existed :(

Yes, IRIS published a v2.0 patch but then there was a disagreement between IRIS and the developer (Tim Taylor from Metal2Mesh). Long story short, the IRIS Mudhen has been withdrawn from the IRIS store and Metal2Mesh is working on their TacPack enabled V2.0 version.
If you own the old IRIS v2.0 version, you can already buy the Metal2Mesh "F-15E Avionics Upgrade" now for only $15 and you will get the full M2M V2.0 version for free later.

Thanks for that Henk ;)

Unfortunately, I missed the v2 patch so my version is the original. I can't find anything with the release to say which version it is but I'm sure I bought it not long after release. The FS9 version wasn't too bad but the FSX model was very frame heavy.. caused to a large degree by the HUD. My pc (then) struggled to run FSX anyway so it sat for a long time getting little or no use. If the patch worked on the original release, I'd be up for the upgrade but from what I can tell.. it doesn't.
Never mind.. thanks anyway mate ;)

EDIT: John.. the model sits in FSX as Iris F-15 Eagle.. models indicated in the cfg are C, D, DJ and J :worried:
EDIT#2.. You removed what you'd typed while I was putting the above in! I take it that update doesn't apply to this model anyway? :dunno:

Dave - because of how you answered Henk's post, I assumed my reply was surplus to requirement, which is why I removed it.

Seems you're sorted now, anyway :)

I wondered if you meant the F-15CJ package or the F-15E, which is what Henk was referring to - and you seemed to acknowledge his post, so I though you must have the E 'Mudhen', but it seems now that it is the CJ one!

I only have the v1.1 for that. I was editing my post, but when I submitted it, your response was up. Just a bit of a mix up. ;)

Confusion indeed, Dave needs the C/D/J. The final version of that pack is still available as a free download from http://www.irissimulations.com.au/ , go to the "Hangar Page", then to Free "Flight Simulator Aircraft". It is now labeled [FS9] ‘Classics Series’ – “F-15C”. It looks to be the same as former payware version 1.1 (or SP1) which still has FS9 MDL files, not FSX native.
Conclusion: There is no FSX SP2 for the C/D/J models.

Hi Guy's :)

Thanks for the replies ;) I'd forgotten all about the F15 Mudhen 'E' release but vaguely remember now that as I'd got the C/D/J.. I didn't really need an E. Ironic that this is the one that got updated to SP2 spec and the C/D/J was left on the shelf :wall:

Cheers ;)

Ah, the strange economics within the Iris business model ... that bit the users after Iris was bitten ...
