I know I said I wouldn't post a HU for any more sales but ...
It seems SimMarket have a new website at the same URL, and, for a few days, they have a sale on Flight1 Europe discs and downloads (20% off with shipping to be added, but they are in the UK). There are also a few other FS developers on a discount, but I've never heard of most of them before.
I'm sorely tempted to get a couple of ITVV cockpit videos plus the great QW 146. Compared to the download price, it's not a great discount, but as long as shipping is free, it doesn't seem a bad deal at all.
Well, it seems they've expanded the sale quite a lot. There are now 860 items involved, including Iris, RazBam, JF (and JT for those interested in trains) and FS-Addon. Even JF's Canberra and Lightning are included. I did get the impression browsing through the list that some items appeared twice, and the expiry dates and discounts vary between the product suppliers. I know that SimMarket prices tend to be higher than most other sellers, but it does look as if there are some bargains there ...
Yes - but I can't remember if it's the GFA one (or was that Icarus?) or not. I bought the pair of them at the same time a few years back. I can't remember any specific difference - I'm sure I found them very similar and enjoyed flying both. Sorry, it's some time since I flew the other one (you saw my GFA screenshots a few days ago).
I do have the FSAddon one in P3D just now, but I can only find the GFA one in my SimObjects, so I'm guessing it is that one?
Just checked - it is Want to know something specific?
Thanks for checking Anything general about it really. Is it worth it (given it's on sale)? I pulled the Lysander yesterday and was a little disappointed. I'd presumed it was by the same chap who did the Storch and it's not.. my fault This said.. it's not bad and you can't fault the authors enthusiasm.. you end up wanting to like it even if you don't like Lysanders Interior looks too new.. too bright if that makes sense. I know they were ALL new during WWII but no effort has been made to show signs of general wear and tear. Paints are good (mostly by Jan Kees so they would be) and it flies as you would expect. Main model is based around the Shuttleworth example.
As for the Gladiator.. I don't have one and have looked at this one a few times. Seemed a bit stiff at full price but it may be worth the sale price
EDIT: Don't worry JD.. I just treated myself to it as a Fathers Day present
Pretty sure it has wear and tear textured and it flies nicely - whether that is realistically or not, I don't know, but I didn't find any nasty surprises doing circuits with it.
Hope you're not in a hurry to get anywhere in it, though
The Gladiator isn't that slow mate.. not compared to some of the things I fly and especially those with rotary wings Yeah.. it's not bad and this one WAS done by the bloke who did the Storch. A bit too new inside for my personal taste but I can live with it Needs more shading (less reflected light) in and around the engine area but again.. if I don't look there, it won't hurt me. The RN camo paint is wild isn't it
Incidentally.. after installing the Lysander last night, my FSX is now jerky as hell. No idea what the hell it might have done I kept a 'pre FSXB' cfg which I've replaced the current one with in the hope it all returns to normal again
I just went to have a peek at the paints etc and you're right, it does look a bit clean. I must have been thinking about the Icarus model, which has two versions - the pre-war version and the later one. Still, for the tenner (at SimMarket) it must be worth it.
By the way - doing a Google search for it turned up this:
