Ok , Got it working.

Want I did was, stopped trying to install the aforementioned scenery and picked a different one.
File savannahgeorgiausa_dlffsx by Dan French.

Unzipped it and placed the Savannah folder containing the scenery and texture subfolders in FSX's , addon scenry folder.
Started the sim and clicked on settings
Clicked the scenery library button from the options on the right side of the window
Clicked on add area from the options located on the right side of the window
That causes the "select scenery directory" window browser to pop up.
I navigated to the addon folder in FSX's root directory where I placed the Savannah parent folder.
I clicked on the ""open area under the files "" you pointed out in your graphic.... nowt a thing happened.
I Doubleclicked the Savannah folder and saw the subfolders
I clicked on the open space area As you directed
The "select scenery directory" browser window disappeared and I saw the added savannah airport in the list.

The addon folder has been renamed back to addon Scenery...

Perhaps I'll have another look at the read me for KFHR :wasntme:

Thanks Gents.

thank you so very much :)

Quick Update.
I have the KFHR installed and viewable in sim..I just kept clicking clicking between the open area under the scenery and texture folders and the open button and suddenly the scenery directory browser disappeared. and the airport was in the list... Please don't ask which click ... I haven't the foggiest ... I was drifting off I suppose
clicking subconsciously. ...

I did change where I picked the scenery from.. I didn't copy and paste it in the FSX addon scenery folder. I just navigated to where I had unzipped the downloaded file.
Question, Iam I now required to leave the files from where I chose them from?

I hope it's not an omen to what I can expect for the rest of the addons I have to reinstall. I have to DL all the scenery libraries ,.. oh joy.
So much forgotten since my last install over... two years ago.

The pay off so far..
KFHR has lots of new and custom buildings and objects..

The Savannah airport has a Coast Guard hanger to fly through And a very nice pax terminal.

Thanks again

Hi Keith.

Not sure on the smilies. I've just checked your profile and they do seem to be enabled. Which browser are you using?

Hi Joe :)

You don't have to have scenery actually 'IN' the FSX folder system so if it's working where you've unzipped it.. leave it there. The important thing is that FSX knows where it is :) I have all of my GenX and EarthSim scenery on a different drive but I keep smaller stuff inside FSX as it's easier for me to keep track of. I know that many keep ALL their addon scenery on a different drive. The choice is yours ;)
