I don't use REX, but I did try some real weather last night, injected via OpenClouds. Plenty of cloud, but very little performance hit, compared to FSX. That was with cloud shadows on as well.

Cheers JohnJ0hn wrote:I have seen click-spot issues reported and there is definitely a solution, but I can't remember what just now. I think it was switching off glass reflections in VCs - so if you don't have that option you might have to do without.
I did a search on the LM forum and found several comments about changing a setting in saved flights from 'True' to 'False'. I didn't have any saved flights regarding the aircraft with clickspot problems, so I changed the setting in the default flight. I also set water resolution to minimum. Neither had any effect.
Perhaps it's a problem with FS9 aircraft in P3Dv2 (I also saw the problem in v2.1). All other aircraft work fine.

Got the update now. I think I'll have to go back and check the installation notes as I'm sure it's not simply a case of double-clicking on it.
Kevin, you have probably read the posts around the net about your issue, but I seem to keep finding the same reasons - mostly switching views a lot or switching from fullscreen to windowed display. Fixes seem to be dev based (and one saying to reduce the water quality setting). I'm pretty sure the tip about switching off VC reflections was for Carenado models, but I will try to find that again (was on a forum I stumbled across a couple of weeks ago). I don't use clickspots myself, but I will give them a go, just to see if this issue arises.
It's funny, reading a post saying "don't worry - it's an LM issue and will be fixed in their patch in January"!

No not a simple run the installer, the patching requires certain folders to be emptied (moved for reference/backup), just take a look at this link...

Ive had a reply regarding my REX issue, cant belive what they have said TBH as i can induce it by using REX for Weather, i tried Openclouds last night and that ran with V2.2 OK, especially as V2.2 runs well with most sliders to the right and no stuttering.

Performance issues is not something we try to be engaged in as it's all relative to how your system is setup, settings in both the simulator and REX, as well as your driver software. In our user manual we try and give tips along the way, so I suggest try reading that first.
Re: For those who haven't noticed...
Thanks for the quick link, Chris. So pretty much the same as for v2.1.
No worries

Only just noticed this, but the hotfix for the flightplanner crashing the sim has been released. See -

Re: For those who haven't noticed...
Next time you run P3Dv2.2 get task manager running and right click on P3Dv2.exe and have a look at the 'set infinity'. Although I had the correct setting in the P3D.cfg not all the cores were running.
Set it to all cores now via task manager.

Re: For those who haven't noticed...
Hi Nev, you can also set all cores using a switch in the short cut properties as follows: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c start "Prepar3D.exe" /high /affinity 15 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Prepar3D.exe"
Change affinity and location as needed. Note that this command also sets the priority for P3D to high - an absolute must for a smoother flight, particularly when using all cores.

Chris
