I got one saying I have to make a new account then let them know, then they will transfer my purchases.

Call me grumpy, but I can't see why they don't just transfer the stuff to new accounts from the off, if they want to update the website. Seems a cack-handed way of doing things.

I'm now undecided on whether to bother.

Thanks everyone for your patience, I've spent the last few days solid just going through e-commerce requests. As of now I'm up to date on the e-commerce enquiries and am currently working through the outstanding tech support ones (why doesn't my plane work, etc).

Both Karen and I love the idea Flightsimstore have put together and yes, we are taking a serious look at offering the ability to transfer orders from other stores to an IRIS account. It will only be a minor charge as it does involve a bit of work at our end to verify and process, but I think the customers would like the idea of one place to get their downloads. Especially considering one store I won't name charges for re-downloads after a certain time (which gives me a headache when I promise a free upgrade to the A-10!).

Anyway, I'm glad I remembered my login here.. even more glad I remembered by password. It means I'm not going senile! Yet. :)

John,

I'm not sure if you're the gentleman I discussed this with on the support ticket system, however, I'll err on the side of caution and say that whilst both Karen and I would also love to have merged the databases (it would save Karen piles of work having to administer three different databases), it just wasn't possible with the transfer of store software.

David.

Hi David :hello:

You know, I've been wondering how long and just what it would take before you appeared to tell us what you thought - sorry for that! ;)

Thanks for doing so. I did put in a ticket, but there wasn't really a discussion - just a question and answer - so I think it was someone else. With the number of unimpressive devs, as far as PR and support is concerned, seemingly growing, it's very easy to fall into the virtual dustbin in the eyes of the simulator fans around the internet. Just one thing happens and suddenly you are painted the same colour as the guy who committed some unspeakable act of surreptitious software sabotage and took the money and ran - the way of the world, I suppose. But then, some of us have been bitten more than others (usually the ones who like to believe that humans are intrinsically well-meaning creatures) and fear the worst each fresh time a problem is apparent, for which no plausible explanation has been openly offered.

So thanks for posting here and putting us in the picture and I can assure you that my confidence is revitalised ( as if it could ever be otherwise! ).

Cheers :)

Also - as someone recently said in this post - credit where it's due:

Get your suggestions in if there's something you like ;)

btw, Iris just happen to be my second favourite payware add-on aircraft. Not only the subjects covered, but the way they model their VCs appeals to me. I see quite a few posts around various forums by people who don't like them at all (too colourful and 'squeaky clean' is something I've seen mentioned) but I like 'em.

I. too, quite like Iris models and indeed I have the older A10. I bought it from the shop who shall not be named, but that was because I was fed up of buying from an Iris store which always seemed to disappear shortly after I'd bought something from there, only to reappear in another guise several months later with a different URL. I think all the models I've bought direct from an Iris store were actually purchased from effectively a different store account. Yes, I'd like to have an updated A-10 - no, I'm just not prepared to spend another penny with a company who give the appearance of being fly-by-night with their product support ...

Wince, sharp intake of breath... :-O

I've tried logging into the Iris store but it's never heard of me and my A-10. Never mind - if I want to Warthog, I'll fly my DCS one. However, if there's ever an update to the lovely Vulcan, I will be hammering on Iris' door.

Yep Colin, I'm quite confident that Iris would quickly sort me out if I pursued it. However my A-10 cravings, meagre though they are, are better served in DCS. :)

They have now given me a new invoice, as though I had only just purchased the models, along with download links to the current versions. As well as the previously mentioned improvements to the A-10A model, the F-14 has also since had some updates:

The IRIS - Airforce Series - Tomcat (F-14) [FSX] Hotfix
Version 1.10 to 1.5 Hotfix (0.45Mb) -
Here: https://www.irissimulations.com.au/files/hf_f14_150.exe
* F-14 Afterburners and associated flight dynamic now work based on throttle position.
* Cockpit launch bar switch now works as originally intended.
* New Control Panel added (Shift+1 in the VC View) which allows for one click quickstart, shutdown and toggling of the wingsweep system between automatic and manual modes.
* New aircraft initialization gauge added which automatically starts all essential systems when the aircraft is loaded in flight.
so I'll be redownloading that, as well. Oh yes, I was also awarded the full reward points as though I had paid the full price for the products, instead of the $5 Aus that I actually paid.

So all in all I'd say any inconvenience is more than compensated for
