Here's a new problem I've not bounced off before. When I try to load up the Aerosoft Catalina in FSX.. I hear a warning 'dink' and there's a window on the desktop saying something like oops, that's the wrong aircraft Checking the FSX fatal error detail, it appears to be in cryptui.dll (cryptui.dll_unloaded). What the hell is this all about
I've had the Cat running under Win7/FSX before but this is the first time I'd selected it after the new install Bing came up blank except to say what cryptui.dll is
No idea Dave. Do you have a cryptui.dll file in your windows folders anywhere? I've got one in both the system32 and sysWOW64 folders, although they are different sizes.
Yup.. I have the same. The Sys31 file is 21.11.2010 @1041kb and the SysWOW64 file is the same date @980kb.
I've never heard of the darned thing before today. One reference I found to it with regard to FSX was on the Aerosoft forums as it happens. Some chap had loaded/installed Aerosoft Vienna (I think) and he got the cryptui.dll_unloaded error. He asked why this was but the question was ignored
I've tried loading the Catalina since and it completely locked up the pc. I had to use the reset button
The only possible difference with this install is that it was a later version rather than the original version with the update patch added. I'll try and uninstall it and see what happens if I install the earlier version then add the patch. Hardly ever fly the b1oody thing anyway
EDIT: Tried a less painful way and dragged the Cat off my previous Win7/FSX install and it works fine
