Thanks for posting your great video, John.

Hmm. I'm not entirely convinced by that as it stands. As well as the scale issues and white houses, it seems some of the objects are mismatched with the tiles. I noticed a few instances of industrial areas with factories which had only a couple of buildings plonked on top. Fair enough, they can't represent everything but in these cases the buildings were sometimes at ninety degrees to those shown on the tiles underneath which really jarred visually.

I wonder whether using this with FTX Global's autogen would improve things in terms of placement and visual appearance?

I applaud the developers for taking on such a massive challenge and it has potential, as well as being something we've all wanted for a long time but it's a no from me at this point. I'll watch with interest to see whether any patches are released.

Personally, I think it's a great shame that Earth Simulations and Scotflight don't team up to do a product like this. ES do have plans, but with Jersey and possibly another scenery area after, I think theirs could be some way off.

You're welcome, Adrian - pleased it's of use. Apparently it's been embedded on a couple of other forums, too, so I hope I don't end up getting any flak for it from JF or the devs!

Anyway, for those who don't have time to watch the video, I took some snapshots from within FSX.

This is with JF's Real Scenery and the UK2K UK VFR Airfields, Gerry Winskill's UK Farmstrips and all the sliders pushed to the right in the scenery options:

Note the lack of 3D objects to start with






The objects do seem to 'pop up' out of the ground as I fly along - but once they are in place, it looks quite reasonable from the cockpit (i.e. without zooming)





On this next one, you can see some trees generated in a small lake or large pond. I guess it could be flooding, though!



In another picture that I can't seem to find now, there were a collection of such large ponds and the trees where very well placed around them - so I guess it's swings & roundabouts.







I will take a couple of a city such as London a bit later (that is covered in the video - just jump to the last 1/4 of it) and stick them up. They look more impressive from a distance than they do close up. I've not tested the night lighting effect as yet, due to having another package installed for that purpose.

And in a small village, we have Westminster Abbey slap-bang on a road or river, in the last shot...Delightful!

Surely there are enough talented folk around here to knock-up some decent autogen scenery? And it would be free! ...Wouldn't it?

They were going to divert it around the abbey, as a moat - but the government grant got withdrawn so they had to improvise and adapt.
