I had a 1.5GB GTX 480 which didn't have enough VRAM for P3D.

I'm watching AI into EGLC in P3D and it is using 2.6GB.

Good greif! :worried:

I might have to upgrade. Which of the 760's did you go for. I know DG went for the MSI one.

That's a very good price. The only Palait one I could find was in Germany on Amazon! :worried:

Ah, I didn't see one for that price - shops I tried must either not have had them in or were more expensive. Still a couple of months until I'll be buying, though, so plenty of time to look around and for things to change.

Things are generally more expensive, now that people don't have as much spare cash. Crazy, isn't it? I bought my American Strat guitar for £550 just 6 years ago and now it costs double that.

Anyway, I'll have another peek tomorrow (I generally use ebuyer, Scan, OverclockersUK or Novatech for PC stuff) and then just monitor things until Feb. It's my birthday at the end of January, you see, so I might have a little extra cash, in addition to what I expect to spend :)

PS - Found! - and the same make etc as the one I currently have, which has been excellent.

PPS - I just read a detailed and interesting review of the GTX760 OC, comparing the 2GB and 4GB versions. The main point that I drew from this review is that, whilst the 4GB would be a good buy for our purpose, it may struggle with actual processing power - as stated in the review. Maybe that's why you still have issues with it, George. They recommend going up to a 770 for the extra oomph. Maybe by February it'll cost that bit less...

BTW.. don't be fooled into thinking LM doesn't know which of you is using P3Dv2 for entertainment..

The bloke out on Bishops Rock thought he was safe and look what happened. There are another 2 bad guy's on the other side and they're all tooled up to the teeth!

Helicopter is the ND MD500 Defender. Not looked at the military versions before.. I only fly the civvie cab. Those guy's on either side are a giggle. They're all independently animated and when you bank.. the legs on the guy's sitting on the 'upper' side move toward the aircraft and those on the lower side straighten.. this in addition to their upper bits being animated

Scenery (for what you can see of it) is ES IoS
Sim.. FSX ;)

You have been warned :cpu:

I was finally able to do some proper testing last night. I've installed 250 FSX aircraft (or variants thereof) into P3Dv2 and am checking them one by one for errors.

So far, it's been very encouraging, though there was one large disappointment in the Blenheim from alphasim.

Looks okay in the VC:

...but when you look to either side, you get a bit of a shock (where are my shades?)

Image

When you step outside, the horrible truth is revealed:

Not all alphasim aircraft are affected so much, though - the Victor, for example, is okay - though the DX11 does make it look rather aged in term of graphical presentation:

Whereas Dave Garwood's Beaufighter looks great:

My own repaints (here of an aircraft model not officially licenced for P3D but nevertheless looking pretty impressive):

This repaint was made using Abacus' FSRepaint v2, with the option to save in the original format (DXT3 1024x1024) selected - so that worked just fine, which is good to know.

Another thing I'm really pleased about and glad to see the back of, are those horrid white runway lines than FSX draws as if they are brand new, reflective, orin the rain every time you see them (often from miles away). Here they are in P3Dv2 at St Athan and Cardiff:

So, all in all, it's looking just grand so far! :agree:

Shame about the Blenheim - used to like flying that, but I'm guessing it's an alpha thing (no pun intended), which might be possible to sort. If I knew what I was doing with them! :dunno:

One final point - the AI. I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of AI aircraft found in regional airports such as Cardiff (I guess not so much 'regional' now that an A380 has landed and taken off from there) and Bristol. The only downer is the FSX style carrier schemes like Orbit and Pacifica or whatever it's called. Yuk! Still, I will inject some custom AI and see if it gets implemented effectively. :)

I just copied across all my AI aircraft & traffic files from X and they seem to work fine.

I suspect the Blenheim is either an alpha channel, or spec map issue. Should be easy to sort out. :cpu:

That's very encouraging, about the AI, Dave. I have lots of the stuff, so I'll see how it goes. Mind you, I don't know if the sim won't still use those airlines in the UK, I guess it depends on what the airport bgl says? Or would that be an AFCAD/AFX file?

Anyway - I'll give it a go :)

I got Accu-Feel to load and run but only after installing the latest migration tool. All the lines were present as Kevin suggested but it did not show up on the menu. All is well so far then!

As for testing I am using the 770 (2Gb) and with unlimited frame rates I am seeing between 50-75 per sec with Real scenery and Carenado C337. Interestingly, GPU usage goes up to 99% when the aircraft is in a turn and stuttering then occurs, but on straight flight it is smooth as silk.

The forum at LM has more on this. Running in full screen mode doubles the frame rate by the way.
