D'oh!!

Just remembered I've not sent you anything Kevin :wall: Give me 5 and I'll sort my life out ;)

Right.. here we go at long last :lol: SmokeGauge
Drop the folder into your gauges folder and the 2 smoke files into your effects folder (if you don't have them). The folder contains the smoke xml :) I've fiddled with my config more times, I don't know which is original now so just in case.. here's my vc01 entry..

[Vcockpit01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=2048,2048
visible=1
pixel_size=2048, 2048
texture=$pan1

gauge00=Nim!Autopilot, 2,1630,2000,330
gauge01=Nim!FDHoriz, 0,0,510,505
gauge02=Nim!HSI, 510,0,510,510
gauge03=Nim!FDPanel, 0,1020,745,600
gauge04=Nim!Thrust1, 1570,1330,270,270
gauge05=Nim!Thrust2, 1570,1035,280,280
gauge06=Nim!Thrust3, 1570,740,280,280
gauge07=Nim!Thrust4, 1570,445,280,280
gauge08=Nim!Timer, 758,1070,250,300
gauge09=NIM!RMI1, 1030,512,512,1024
gauge10=Nim!Vor1, 1030,0,512,512
gauge11=NIM!VorSwitch1, 1551,6,491,424
gauge12=NIM!VorSwitch2, 11,598,491,424
gauge13=NIM!Turn, 510,578,520,418
gauge14=nim2!Clock, 760, 1375 ,243,237
gauge15=simshed!Nimrod_smoke, 400,0,20,20

NOTE: gauge 15 be the smokey bit ;)

This should work fine for ya mate. It's a bit 'full on' but infinitely better than nothing :thumbsup:

Cheers Dave :thumbsup:

I still don't see any smoke. I have the following effects files from the original Nimrod download

fx_MR2L_smoke_1.fx
fx_MR2L_smoke_2.fx
fx_MR2R_smoke_1.fx
fx_MR2R_smoke_2.fx

Also, I have no [smokesystem] entry in the Aircraft.cfg file, which I believe positions the above effects files.
I've tried re-downloading the Nimrod from several different sources, but non contain the missing files/entries.
I realise it's Brians creation, so don't trouble yourself too much with this.
Just re-reading the 'Nimrod Smoke' posts on CBFS to see if I can find anything.

Regards

Kevin

Oh pants :lol:

Yes.. I have those files too though they're not the ones from the beta (the ones I sent). Here's my smoke entry..

[smokesystem] //long, lat, vert, file//
smoke.0=-13.5, -9.0, -2.2, fx_MR2L_smoke.fx
smoke.1=-13.5, -11.8, -2.2, fx_MR2L_smoke.fx
smoke.2=-13.5, 9.0, -2.2, fx_MR2R_smoke.fx
smoke.3=-13.5, 11.8, -2.2, fx_MR2R_smoke.fx

I may, in the fullness of time, try the 1+2 files but I'm scared of losing what I have again :lol: I have some for an AI Nimrod too (a cutdown version of Brians original) which I may try. I'll take a look at their smoke first.

That reminds me.. I don't think he ever released the AI version. If he didn't.. it's a shame because it's a peach.. just like the full version :rock:

Just tried out the Rimnod here, & the smoke works fine, & I don't have the [smokesystem] entries in the cfg. Looking at the model in ModelConverterX, it seems the smoke fx are attached inside the mdl.
I don't have a smoke control gauge in the panel.cfg either, so I assume the triggering XML is embedded as well.

Cheers Guys

adding in the [smokesystem] entry, but changing the fx entries to match those in my effects folder, I get the smoke working. Not sure if this is due to the Aircraft.cfg file accessing the effects directly as opposed to via the mdl as DaveG sugeests.

Dave

The AI Nimrod is available at the Simshed website.

Thanks again.

Rgr that Kevin ;)

Re the effects themselves.. I did suggest earlier that I was pretty sure it had changed throughout the beta process culminating with the final version released. However.. I didn't get it with the release version for whatever reason :lol: Now.. I have enough smoke to be getting on with and it was much better than Brian's suggestion all those years ago.. re-install FSX! ;)
