£5 146
Hello All,
Just Flight are having a 24 hour sale on the BAe146.
It's £5 until 2pm tomorrow (Thur 19th).

Re: £5 146
I was just about to highlight this too Paul. If you don't want the expense of the QW146/RJ.. this has to be worth a fiver of anyones money.
Comes in 200/300 flavour

Thanks for that Paul (and Dave) - bought and in the process of downloading! Still haven't flown the Tristar I got back in August - running P3D and seem to have a bit of a cooling problem with the CPU so I think a new fan is in order.

Chris

I love these £5 sales, another points purchase, but had to pay the high cost of £0.60!

Re: £5 146

I didn't bother checking my points.. just threw a fiver at it! Yes.. I know I already have the QW model but my rig isn't capable of running it in FSX. I already see OOM's with annoying regularity and for the most part, the QW model simply refuses to load

BUT... this little tinker runs a treat. It came shooting down at 666KB/sec.. all 455mb worth and installed in a flash. I've yet to RTFM hence my first flight was without the benefit of either avionics or hydraulics causing me to run off the end of the runway at EGPK (Prince Charles has done this too so I don't feel bad about it)

Generally.. this is no QW model in any respect but don't let this disuade you from buying it.. especially for a fiver and this promo runs out at 1400BST!!!. The panel (which includes a 2D) isn't the 'photoreal' masterpiece as seen in the QW model and the sounds may not be to everyones liking but they're certainly not bad. The real bonus of this (for me at least) is that it's a 146 and NOT an RJ so the inside is steam power.. not your pseudo glass.

You have just over an hour and 10mins to go before the promo ends so get your butt's over there and spend a fiver (or less with points). Unless you want the finest model money can buy.. you won't be disappointed

Oh.. and for those wondering who made the JF release, I noticed a lot of files with CLS prefixes while the exe was installing

Re: £5 146
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it installs as a "CLS_BAe-146".
Unfortunately, I paid the 'normal' price a few weeks back. I say normal - with discounts etc it was £14.99, but I am also very pleased with it, all things considered.
Your first flight went better than mine, Dave - I couldn't get the durned thing started! I fly about 80% VFR and only fly the larger stuff on the odd occasion - but I can usually get them going without too much difficulty with the application of basic logic (that means looking up and down the panels and seeing what I know I need to get airborne and 'lit-up'), but this thing had me stumped - it just didn't want to know.
Unfortunately not had a go since as I've not had time - but now it's been brought up I will have a gander at the manual.

Re: £5 146
Hi Paul
I have a few JF models, but not being a jet fan, didn't go for this offer.
Not to detract from your HU...... (while I was looking at Robins, in connection with another post,) I came across the freeware site Premier Aircraft Designs.
I'm probably the last person in the FS community to discover them, BTW.
Regardless, they have a BAe in a handful of British colours, RAF and BA.
I have NO idea of the quality or features, but thought I'd mention it.
Cue for Garry Russell to bash me over the head for not noticing that the air intakes are clearly 14mm under-size.

Re: £5 146
I think you may be right by being the only person not to be aware of PAD. You've actually found them just in time to be defunct
Still.. you found them and some bits you like so it doesn't matter
Garry will be pleased to learn my JF/CLS 146 doesn't display Landor correctly (front R and rear R display black!!) but Flybe does very nicely thank you
I think I'm gonna have to RTFM which is mighty disappointing. Through trial and error, I got the AP working nicely then it all fell apart. Likewise.. the VSI needle seems to work when it see's fit which isn't particularly helpful. Hold the cursor over the VSI and it displays what's going on numerically.. just no indication from the b1oody needle. Not sure if I need to upgrade to the latest FSUIPC to fix it.. I'm on version 4.859m dated 10 Dec 2012
Other than these minor irritations (minor of sorts anyway) I've just done Prestwick to Aldergrove then Aldergrove to Cardiff AND.. there wasn't one single clap from the cabin after landing at either. Perhaps they'd all died of heart attack

Re: £5 146
Ker-plunk!
Most of the issues I'd noticed on the first flights have been sorted by downloading and installing the latest version of FSUIPC4. However, I'm still seeing a sound error when the model is selected:
dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau
CreateSoundBuffer Failed
followed by
dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau
DirectSound Failed to Initialize
I've opened a ticket at JF and await their response. Any other users had this prob?
Other than this.. it's a good'un

Re: £5 146
I can't remember getting that error Dave, but if I get chance tomorrow I'll fire it up and see what happens.
Slightly off topic (
), but being born in 1980 and my interest for aircraft getting going in the late 80s, I love Landor...
I'll get my coat.
