Decisions Decision....Made!!

Post by Nigel H-J »

Many thanks to all from my previous thread who provided help and advice, I have now made an executive decision, though when I do get it at the back of my mind I shall be wondering.......What would the other one have been like? Still, that is only human nature I suppose.

After much thought and having re-read all posts I have decided on the Aerosoft 'Twin Otter Extended' The PMDG Jetstream came very close indeed but when I thought about it I fly Ricks HS748 regularly in ORBX Regions and it is extremely frame friendly, cruises at around 200 - 210kts and carries roughly the same number of pax, the Jetstream is a bit faster admittedly and looks extremely good but why have 2 similar type of a/c and miss out on something different? :worried:

Having read user reviews of the Otter I am really looking forward to getting it and what's more there is a discount if buying it now with free download for when the other Otters (complete download) is ready in September otherwise it will be the full price if you wait!!

Got a friend that will download it for me so hopefully this week-end I will try out my STOL skills at the smaller flying clubs!! :worried:

Nigel, excellent choice and if you are on a tight budget, you now have both an airliner and a bush plane all in one, so plenty of varied flying on the cards. By the way, the tundra-wheeled model has now been released along with some updates to the base model, so you'll need to get your mate to d/l those too. Or wait till the whole package is out and get it all in one go.

Hi Paul,
Have already purchased and hoping to be able to download tomorrow, they give you 20 days to download so will get it done as soon as possible. From the download page there is the model plus update so assume that the tundra wheeled model will be included in the main download section then will wait until they release further models.

Really looking forward to this one. Again, many thanks for your advice.

Regards
Nigel.

If it's anything like the old model (which I have) you'll need a throttle quad to get the best out of it. Sadly.. I gave mine away :wall: You can fly it with just the throttle but it'll be more fun with a quadrant. I find the VC levers difficult to get at with a mouse.

The old model is a good'un though and there's no reason to doubt the new version won't be better ;) Barra was the first place I flew to

Hi Dave :hello:

Fortunately I have the CH throttle quadrant and also Track IR so should stand me in good stead. When I am able to get it downloaded I'll give Barra a shot and reserve the front seat for you. ;)

Hi Colin

Traumatic experiences getting to grips with the Otter sadly left me no time in positioning for a flight to Barra. So hopefully that will be done for the week-end!!

Good choice of plane that man :agree: :excited:

I picked up the "twotter" as well, last weekend, not had much time to fly her yet, but she goes very well along with the FTX Scotland scenery and the Fly be logo repaint aka the current configuration for Barra flights from Glasgow etc. . see here: -

I was going to post a screenie earlier in the week but I'm struggling to get the flicker account running the way I want since Google changed the way they share photos, the previous image hosting tool I was using
