It's all up in the air (no pun intended) the fates of the remaining VC10s, that is. Apparently, XR808 known as 'BOB', will now not be going to Cosford because of the worry of the short runway. H&S wasn't much in evidence back in '79 when Victor Mike flew in there! Anyway, one 'report' suggests BOB will now be the runner at Brunty (the last K4 was due to be), while another says it may eventually go BY ROAD to Cossy.
Oh well, the anticipation all adds to the excitement of the types final days, don't it! Just as long as 808 or BOB is preserved on way or another, I'll be happy as it is a C1K - the longest serving, specialised, best looking (IMO) version.

Re: 'BOB' now not retiring to Cosford
Not exactly arriving.. more your low flypast However.. all things considered, the chances if it not landing later are slim and it not going to Cosford seems assured. Does anyone know if it's going to be kept as a runner yet? If not, is it really worth the cost of pulling apart for transportation by road to Cosford? I'm sure a well known pilot around these parts did feasibility tests for a landing at Cosford a couple of years ago and didn't, as far as I remember, see any issues.
All this said.. I think a majority would sooner it go to Brunters and remain a runner than end up cold at Cosford.. unless of course they were going to keep it open to the public
