Skys clearing here as I type and looks a promising day Not working either so if the wind stays reasonable. Could see some flying time Nervous time with the maiden hope it goes well
Still looking for a suitable camera the gocam is ideal size wise and has the functions I want ie timed consecutive single shot but is mega expensive and too wide angle for still photos The other problem is the weight of the cub has become an issue with the larger fuel tank 20oz she takes some time to get airborne now the carb issue is sorted I could change back to the smaller one but as she works well at the moment I don't want to push my luck Have tryed fueling the tank to less than full but are aware of foaming problems when on half tank or so on some models with large engines Will keep looking for a suitable cam first

Skies improving here as I type but it's far too windy for anything under a 90" wingspan It was grey and dull here just minutes ago.. an indication of how strong the wind is

Understand your reluctance to fiddle with the Cub having got it running well.. I'd be the same in your position. I gather what you're after is a camera you can control 'in flight'.. hence the cost (and the need for those extra channels!). Would a slower running prop help with pulling power? Still.. if the camera is as big as some I've seen.. they're not small are they.

EDIT: Wind forecast 13/23 here for most of the day and looking at how the Sycamore across the road is bending.. I wouldn't disagree Tomorrow looks excellent though.. 5-6mph and the rest of the weekend is promising

Dunno what made me look but.. I popped into Ebay and typed AR500 into the search engine and found one going for £16.03 with a few mins to go. Waited for the right moment and bid £20.. result.. one AR500 rxer Not sure where to put it yet but I've 2 choices.. the Mustang or the flying brick (Wildcat)

Looking forward to getting the maiden on the T6 out of the way in the morning

Not really after controlling the camera in flight although would like to have it fitted to a swivel controlled via a servo to enable the camera to pan about http://gopro.com/hd-hero3-cameras is the sort of thing I'm after but the go pro range are very wide angle and more suited to action video but the time lapse photography where you can take consecutive shots after a set time is just what I'm after

I couldn't find any info on dimensions but they look big.. perhaps bigger than they really are. The 'cheap' one is a little over 2oz so I guess the more expensive ones will be heavier still. No wonder you're concerned about weight!

Well.. having waited for the sprogs to disperse, I legged it over the common. Difficult to say which direction the wind was coming from as there was so little. I may have chosen 180deg in the wrong direction but it shouldn't really have mattered. Loads of throttle.. launch.. up at around 45deg then over on it's left wing and into the deck. Prop no.1 snapped (I wondered why they supplied 2)!! Wings knocked a little off centre but easy enough to re-fit. New prop on.. pwer up.. launch.. the same thing happened again. It doesn't seem 'left heavy' at all. The esc and rxer sit opposite one another and the balance feels good so I'm really not sure what the hell is wrong
The ailerons come with the control rod fitted on the middle hole and don't appear to give an awful lot of deflection. Think I'll move it to the hole nearest the wing.

So.. maiden very short and not embroiled in glory. Flight no2 equally short. The model now sits on my desk with the wings off and without any further props to hand.. that's where it's going to stay until some more arrive. My disappointment is.. well.. you can imagine

I trudged back.. grabbed the Bixler and proceded to dump that on takeoff for the first time ever Low impact from low height and no damage done other than slight compression signs. I have the nose taped anyway so that took the majority of the impact. I should have gone back home at this point but didn't. I launched again and put a battery through it. Bless that Bixler I had more batteries in my pocket but didn't want to chance my luck.

Right.. off to HK to order some new props though for the life of me, I don't know why I'm bothering

EDIT: no sign of replacement props at HK so I had a look on their reviews from the international site. Seems these things are very hard to get and a handful of maidens lasting a second or so is the norm. Wish I'd have read this beforehand Problem may be with the CoG looking at what others have written. This shouldn't be a problem now as the battery ended up well fwd after the last flight but I'll check it again later. Off to work now

Hope it didnt cause any damage other than the prop Thats the trouble with hand launching you dont find out with the trim untill its too late At least when its ROG you get some indication of what it will do once its airborne
Anyone else doing a similar prop would the ones off the small parkzone ones do
Sounds more like thrust angle out, would think the motor should be canted over to the right a bit May be worth a washer or two under the lhs mounting
Not flown yesterday, or today for that matter hope to get the cap down to the field tomrrow Trimmed a bit off the tips of the prop to reduce it to 15in as 15x8 is the max recommended size so will see how it flys. Not found a spring yet for the cub tail wheel. Working next week at a place where springs are available, so will have to wait till then

Yup.. the motor is angled down and to the right. Looks like it's buggered to be honest but that's how it was when I opened the box. Prop is a 7" job and as brittle as ice. HK have yet to respond to my 'prop spares' request!
To be honest.. I don't know how they can honestly sell this stuff in good faith. Reading the comments on the international site (there were none on the UK site).. it's a piece of sh1t until the CoG is found though without any instructions.. that seems to be more by luck than judgement. Watch the video of it and the guy just lobs it into the air (underarm) and off it goes on it's merry way. Wonder how many they bust before the final take! I've gotta laugh about it but it sure still pi$$es me off. Even the wife said to me this morning 'why don't you just buy another fuse for the Mustang and be done with it.. you're paid next week' What's this.. the wife telling me to spend money!

While I was out at work this afternoon/early evening.. I passed a field with model flyers. The grass runway was nicely cut and they had a little windsock too Wish I'd have had the SCub with me with the gear fitted Thing is.. I don't know if I could find it again

Can you not buy a spring as a spare from the folk you got the Cub off or would they prefer to sell you the entire empennage?

AT-6 props..

Well, after waiting 2 days for my support ticket to come to fruition at HK (and it hasn't yet!) I decided to try 'Live Chat'. I explained the situation and the operator passed me to a Product Specialist (that's what I'd ticked on in the first place) who suggested a GWS RD7060 prop (178x152.. 7x6 in real money) so I've ordered a pack of 6 for the princely sum of a tad over $4. Unfortunately, these are NOT available from the UK warehouse (they wouldn't be would they!) and will, I guess, be put on a slow boat from China within the next day or so

Good flying weather again today but I've lost the will to venture out. Will see what tomorrow brings

Flew the cap yesterday New trimmed prop works well , model flys crisper Had about 6 flights with only one suspect landing came in a bit too steep and bounced a bit but no damage fortunatley
Rememberd that i should have a complete tail wheel assy somewhere that came off the ill fated zlin Found eventually in a jiffy bag of various bits and as luck happens every so often the springs were the same as the tail wheel on the cub So wheel repaired took her to the field this morning This was after looking for mobile phone which as shit usually happens had just come through a eco wash in yesterdays jeans pocket. So the trip to the field was not made in the best of spirits Anyhow once there the red mist had lifted and i had quite a pleasent few flights the 18in wooden prop an improvement on the plastic one that i bought to run the engine in 25 yrs ago the repositioned flight battery packs have helped move the cog back slightly and she lifts off in a shorter distance bout 50 or 60 ft so should lift the cam ok may help with a lighter fuel load. Hope to sort out a camera soon Think il go for the silver go pro. Thats after ive sorted a friggin phone out
