I'm flying from Skagway, Alaska, which was the only access point to the Yukon Territory of Canada and the Klondike River for the Gold Rush of 1897. The prospectors had to drag a ton of food each up White Pass as the Canadians wouldn't let them enter without a year's worth of supplies. It meant several journeys just to get their gear to the top. By the time the railroad was finished the Gold Rush had moved on to Nome way over on the other side of Alaska. I've flown over White Pass following the dramatic railroad as it crosses several timber trestle bridges and also the Klondike Highway built during WWII to provide military access to Alaska to defend against the Japanese. Dawson City, the wild Gold Rush town is my final destination but it's a long way and I'm not there yet.

On the other side is Fraser station with a tourist train serving cruise liners docking at Skagway in the summer. Lake Bernard is frozen now.
Stopping off at Carcross for a cup of tea.
Then on to Whitehorse Intl., Yukon Territory. It looks like blowing the top off a mountain was considered the best way to build an airport out here. It works anyway!
I'll spend the night here and head up to Dawson City tomorrow.
There are no add-on airports in this scenery but all 270 default airports have been upgraded to a high standard and have lots of realistic buildings, static scenery and many have people and creature flow as well.
