Chris, Nigel and anybody else wanting to adjust the balance of autogen trees and buildings in FTX regions. I've been looking for more info on the Max Autogen tweak.

This is a very informative and illustrated post which shows a very simple way of doing it with a full explanation of how it works. It simply involves inserting a couple of lines in your config file and experimenting with the values. I've only just found it but haven't got time to play with it yet. Anyway, I don't have the England region with the imbalance. NA seems to look pretty realistic. The problem would be that it would have a global effect and as England's cities vary with the amount of greenery in their centres you're never going to get a good balance unless each individual city is modelled separately with a corresponding hit on frame rates and cost.

This guide is for FSX but I would imagine it will work in P3D. I'll have a play with it when I get time, although the illustrations in the post do show the effect quite clearly.

Ian :)

Hi Ian, many thanks for the link I will have a look see at it sometime over the next week or so when at the library as blocked on this computer!! 8)

The ideaof being able to reduce the amount of trees may very well be helpful but as you stated:
The problem would be that it would have a global effect and as England's cities vary with the amount of greenery in their centres you're never going to get a good balance unless each individual city is modelled separately with a corresponding hit on frame rates and cost.
I think that this may well be a problem as city and town trees varies so you would not get a balance. Think I might just wait on that one until I have seen photos or comments.

Again, many thanks for the HU

Nigel.

Did the trees tweak Ian, set trees to 2000 but can't see much difference at the moment but am using P3D so I'm not sure of the default max values for P3D. Anyhoo, I've been playing in Wales, which I got for a tenner off the other day. There some superb textures in Wales but I have a similar performance issue with some other users in that, unlike England, I get quite a few blurries but other than that extremely smooth and a pleasant place to explore! More playing methinks to see if I can get rid of the blurries. Looking forward to Scotland now.

Regards,
Chris
