Some 707 screenies

Post by speedbird591 »

After seeing Ed's wonderful videos of KaiTak, I've spent my flying time over the last couple of days perfecting the 13 approach in my CS707. Naturally I hit the V button a few times during my attempts so I'm posting one or two of the best screenies for anybody still interested in 707s/HKG/steam gauges etc.

I didn't need the RemoteFlight iPad map app for this but the Radio/Autopilot stack was indispensible. On the 707 these are on the centre console and difficult to work in the VC. Using the iPad I can adjust it without moving the cockpit view. The frequencies don't have to be entered separately - the app reads them from the aircraft instruments over wifi and displays them automatically. Knobs, sliders, buttons and wheels work by gently swiping the screen.

Take no notice of him, Tom. Of course you can ask

When you say GPS, I assume you mean some way of using the iPad to aid navigation in FS. Remote Flight also do a map app which will display your aircraft and flight plan over a moving map of your choice of ground view. I use Google hybrid map view - an overlay of terrain and info such as town and street names. Flying over ORBX PNW scenery I can compare the view out of the window against my position on the map and it's very accurate.

Here is more info on the Remote Flight Apps https://www.remoteflight.net/

Nice screens Ian! I too am a big fan of the 707 and hope to make a cockpit for her if I can find one to photograph.

Extremely atmospheric Ian, especially that first shot. One thing though - no shots of the wheels "kissing" the tarmac - did you miss? :worried:

I have to say that HK scenery does look the dogs - does it work in P3D (I'm no longer using FSX :hide: ).

Regards,
Chris

How dare you, sir! I'm outraged!

Actually, it was quite a good approach and landing but I had a bit too much air under the wings and getting it stopped was a bit messy and squirmy. Must get more practice :)

So - another P3D man, eh? I only use P3D now, too. I've still got FSX loaded but purely to store some scenery on. My FlyTampa KaiTak scenery is actually installed into a separate folder outside of either sim and manually entered into the P3D scenery library. As you can see, it works fine. The Captain Sim 707 would only install using the Estonian migrator tool which installed it into the virtual FSX folder within P3D.
