I don't know the answer,Roger, but the installer is reading either the registry entry or the fsx.exe file of your existing install (or both).

You could try renaming fsx.exe temporarily and see if that allows you to do another install but I think it's most likely to be the registry entry. I can't think of any obvious way of getting round that.

Ian :)

There is a way around this but there can only be one instance of FSX in the registry which is why the FSX installer won't let you go again.. I think. If I'm not mistaken.. you need to copy your existing install completely then uninstall it. Do the new install making the directory something different (FSX as opposed to Flight Simulator X) and when that's done.. copy your previous install back. What you would do to fly one install or the other is make separate links to the exe file (or in this case, make a separate/different link to your old install on your desktop).

I think this'll work but please don't trust it just yet. Wait for someone who's sure what to do ;)

Thanks Chaps,

It's just i have recently started to get Hungapp when i start FSX and its driving me nuts!! i can't find the cause of it even doing all the scans of the PC, I check anything before i install it into FSX and a scan of the sim says it's ok

Looking on the Net about this Hungapp it seems that nobody can fix it other than a Re-Format and i don't really want to do that so my thinking was put FSX on my other drive as a new install and that might fix the problem! :dunno:

i will wait and see if anything else is posted,

Thanks,

Roger.

You don't have Norton do you? I was getting a load of HungApp crashes before I got rid of Norton and started using MSE. All the FS related sites said gloom and despondency, re-install etc. Got rid of Norton, lost a bloody great anchor off FSX.

Hi Nigel,

No Norton, i have always used AVG and CCleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware,

It must be all those Porn sites!!! :hide:

I had this Hungapps problem last year but it went away and i have not thought about it until the other day when it started again, but sometimes FSX starts ok , when i do get this problem i go to the Task Manager to delete the sim and then it sometimes starts FSX,

Its a pain in the you know where,

Cheers,

Roger.

When did you start getting the Hungapp Rog? You said you got it last year but it went away. Have you done anything recently that may have triggered it again? If, for example, it was fine on Monday but started today or fine on Sat and started on Mon e t c.. try doing a system restore to at least the day before the hassle started. While you may not get to the bottom of the problem, it may just make it go away :)

Hi ,

Well i seemed to have fixed this Hungapp for the moment anyway,

I uninstalled both F9 & FSX cleaned the system and re-installed FSX, i think you may be right Dave that for some reason after five months it may well have been F9 causing the problem perhaps in the registry,

Fingers crossed

Thanks for all you help,

Roger.
