Or you could just put your FS9 AFCAD into FSX but if you do get ADE then you can import your AFCAD file into it and then save the resulting conversion into FSX.

Re: Inserting a ILS
Roger,
I have a lot of FS9 water traffic at McLeland Field, with floatplanes, cruise ships, motor yachts, sailing yachts and even wind-surfers all using the bay. These all work fine in FSX but the AFCAD files do not import into ADE. If you have similar water traffic then just copy the FS9 AFCAD files for the water traffic, straight into FSX...They work fine just as they are
The Traffic Files themselves however, do need to be converted from FS9 to FSX and if left in FS9 form they will stop all real FSX Traffic files from working.

Re: Inserting a ILS
Hello Peter,
Well i downloaded the ADEx and its very much like the Afcad for F9 from Lee Swordy but not having ever had anything to do with the SDK files although it says the SDK is on the FSX disc i could not find the path to the SDK files when loading ADEx, to be honest its looks a great utility but all i wanted to do was to be able to insert an ILS into a airport and i do not want to mess up the sim!
I am thinking of getting the ORBX NZ North & South Islands and my first default airport i looked at was Queenstown NZQN but it does not have an ILS in FSX it has it in F9, so i took the BGL file for this airport out of F9 and used this converter F92FX to change the BGL file to XML but try as i may it will not work, i have followed the readme but to no avail! i will keep at it as it must work!
Thanks for you help.

Re: Inserting a ILS
Queenstown NZQN does not have an ILS real world. Just VOR/DME and RNAV approaches.

Re: Inserting a ILS
Hi Roger,
The SDK is on the FSX DVD's and is installed in addition to FSX itself. (SDK stands for Software Development Kit). It a bit of a faf due to the various updates to FSX during its lifetime, but well worth doing.
If you look at your FSX DVD box, it should say "Delux or Gold" and you may also have acceleration (Gold includes acceleration)
If so put disk 1 in the drive and then and then use explorer to browse to the SDK folder. In there you'll find Setup.exe, run that, but like FSX itself, change the install directory so as its X:\FSX SDK (X can be changed to the dive letter of your choice) and then select the defaults and run through the install.
If you have acceleration (either as part of the Gold pack, or separately, put that DVD into the drive. Navigate to the SDK\SP1a folder and run fsx_sdk_sp1a.exe. It may prompt to uninstall the original SDK, just let it do this itself and it will update the first version you installed.
Finally, using the same acceleration DVD navigate to the SDK directory. In there you'll find SDK.msi. Double click to install this version of the SDK. Again, it will ask if it can uninstall the existing SDK, just accept this and let it do its thing. After that, its job done

Re: Inserting a ILS
Doing this is a right pain in the proverbial as I found out late last year when I wanted to put ADEx9 on. As Ben said.. the original SDK is on the Deluxe or Gold version (not on Standard for some reason). You have to put that on first then install the SDK for SP1 which will promptly remove the original (no option here.. if you want the latest, the previous has to go).. then install the SDK off your ACC disc (if this is how you're running) which will promptly remove the SP1 SDK. When you've done all this.. ADEx9 will install
I had the Deluxe edition plus ACC so the original SDK was on the Deluxe disc. The SP1 and SP2(final) SDK are both on the ACC disc
