Now that I've paid full price for what I wanted, they do this to me!

Stop! Don't buy!

In fact, following a discussion on the ORBX forum, they've decided to drop the price of virtually all of their products that are older than a year - in line with industry practice. This is through the FlightSim Store, their official outlet. This is a permanent change and the drop is 20% so in fact PC Aviator's sale price is 2% more than the new permanent price

It also reflects the fact that many of the older airfields aren't as detailed as some of the new ones as developers have created ever more realism in the later ones.

Hi Mike,

I feel for you mate,

Does this mean us oldies will now get 40% off?! :excited:

Cheers,

Roger.

Thanks Ian and Roger.
Excellent thought there Roger, or were they having us on about that first 20%? :S
The one that really hurts is Aus textures SP4. That's now half what I paid.
Thank goodness these virtual drinks are free! :guinn: :guinn: :guinn:

Steady there, old fella

I did wonder about that but thought it would be a bit rude to ask :$ Anyway, I bought myself a rather nice island in the Pacific North West that I've had my eye on for some time. It's a huge piece of real estate by the guy that did Felts Field so you can imagine the detail. It's called Anacortes and it worked out at £14 at the new price. Although my registration as an 'old person' has been logged at FSS, no further discount appeared at checkout so I guess the answer is no

EDIT Ignore all that rubbish! You DO get the OAP discount on the new price. I've just checked the transaction again. The new price is AU$24.95 but I only paid AU$19.95 at check out, equating to £13 something. Up yours, young 'uns!

Mike - I know it seems rough, mate, but they hadn't planned this reduction far in advance. In fact John Venema started a discussion on the forum yesterday asking if people would be pissed off or would be in favour. There was an overwhelmingly positive reaction so he just did it! You can start to reap the benefits by backfilling Australia with some of the older airports. You can't just fly circuits at Moorrabin for the rest of your natural

I don't feel that bad, chaps, just an opportunity for a whinge!
Many standard airpoprts are pretty good anyway.
I've been doing a little tour of the Port Phillip and Westernport area, using my newly acquired Just Flight Piper Warrior.
There are some quite interesting statics parked, including a decrepit DC3, missing one engine.
Have upped the detail with some freeware at OzX already, but some of that payware does look tempting, especially now.

A further clarification ... most of the Orbx items with a reduced price at PC Aviator are actually for the DVD version of the product, whereas those at FSS are for the download version ...

Another further clarification ... At FSS the new prices are for both formats and are a permanent repricing by ORBX. It's not temporary sale.
