Yes, a good source for such, but I find I still have to fudge pre-war 3's to give them a flat top! 6's & 9's can also be slightly different (more like these here!). I think they all came from the UNO Stencils used by the drawing office tracers & I have yet to find an equivalent to them!

Ben, many thanks for your comment will get it downloaded next week hopefully and give it a try. Where you say it requires a lot of trim for take-off just out of interest in the aircraft.cfg file flight tuning (I think) there is a line concerning elevator trim, from memory the Trident has a value of 0.512. would altering the value be of any benefit i.e. increasing it to get a more positive response? Also how are the parameters decided? Some a/c are set at 1.0 whilst others set differently. Sorry for changing the subject but too lazy to start a new thread!!

Hi Nigel,

It may well make a difference, I haven't tried changing it and hadn't read the manual. The elevator effectiveness is a multiple of how effective the elevator is, but remember all elevators are different, they have different surface areas for a start, different distance from the mainplane, different types e.g. All moving tailplanes. You'll also find that a model in FS might have a visual surface area of say 10sq feet on the elevator, but it the airtime, its defined as being much larger or smaller. Basically what you see in the visual model will be very different to what's defined in the flight dynamics.

Basset elevator trim - still OT I'm afraid but just trying to keep the string together- if you look at the a/c C of G position in the loading/fuel drop down you will see that the C of G is on the Leading edge (0% chord) - thats one of the problems needing a bit of up elevator trim, but I think from memory once at cruise speed she only needs about +1° trim. There are lots of adjustables in the air file as well as playing with the htail incidence in the .cfg - can be difficult to get a good balance some times. And dont forget in FS one can get a brick (or even Santa, as I have done) to fly!!!

I have taken a look at the Basset and can see that its a bit nose heavy!!
Here is a new CFG,file to cure that, the trim is now nice and neutral

Rob, the C of G is even more forward!!! It now needs +3° elev trim! Also now flat out at 180 KIAS @1000'! Check the payload/fuel drop down.
