2:15 in total last night, steady really. ;)

With 11 years in, I clearly haven't seen the changes a lot of more senior officers have, but we're a Police Force in my opinion, not the people to ring when you can't sort your own s#*t out despite being an adult. :wall:

I've spent my last 7 on traffic so have still managed to stay in the world of proper operational Policing, not hugging and bottom-wiping. :wasntme:

Good one Paul  My Bro-in-law was on traffic (M62 when it opened) from the sleepy hollows of Pock, Brid, Goole and finally.. an acting Inspector at Hull. He reckoned driving the original Range Rovers on the M62 was responsible for his bad back and 'slightly' early retirement. He rarely mentions driving up the motorway banks in it in the wee hours of the morning though! :wasntme: My sister ended up a probation officer up there and the going joke of the time was he knicked em, she got em off  They retired to Spain at 50 so I guess the last laugh was on them. Still.. I'd not want to live in a brick shed on a hillside in southern Spain so you get what you pay for ;)

Where I worked we called traffic "Black Rats", but that was nearly 10 years and 5000 miles ago. I'm guessing that the term is no longer PC (the other type of PC lol). If memory serves, traffic in the counties did other regular stuff apart from traffic, the thought of which would have horrified our brand of TD.

Roll on June. That'll be 30 and happy to have done that.

There is life beyond the job though I have to say it has been a blast. All of my time has been spent on front line duties.

Little compares with the camerarderie and humour that comes to the fore when we have to deal with something awful. It seems to make it a lot easier to deal with it knowing there will be someone to talk to and who will somehow make you smile.

There are some of things I wish I hadn't seen but a vast majority of the time has been satisfying and at times downright hillarious.

There have been some fantastic highlights probably the best working on Police RHIBS at the Olympics in Dorset last year.

I'll be leaving with very few regrets but do wonder what the future holds for Policing as no doubt many of my younger coleagues also do.

Fully agree, I finish at the end of the month after 27 years, reason I am buggering off before 30 is I am 55 going on 56 and doing 27 years of night shifts have done for me.. I have enjoyed 99% of the job and been lucky to combine policing with flying. :)
I worry what will become of the modern police force.
Still onward to my new job :)

Dear me.. the brushes are out again. The wife tells me I have too much time on my hands and I have to agree

Here's a WIP of your old office Tony. Trust me to pick one with a white camera! :wall:

Ahhh G-WMID I have fond memories of that one, it was named "Miss Molly Collins" The layout of controls was much more ergonomic. Sadly it was as reliable as a cheap Bangladeshi watch. Great looking paint there Dave :)

I've been trying to find out what that writing was on either side of the fuse and you've solved it without me having to ask! I remember some years ago, you sent me a print of WMID (which I still have and remembered about today) and realised it was a 902. The print is, I fear, up in the loft where it went when we moved in. I always intended to frame it but my toyroom at the pub was a tip and it got lost with almost everything else in there 8) The wife 'claims' our front room is getting the same here :worried:

A further WIP..

A funny thing happened with the reg font. It's not right but I got it close to what I wanted.. enlarged it to 72pt (not big enough as the map is 2048) so simplified and enlarged it again. Didn't look too bad. Flipped the layer and I got a very nice but completely unwanted outer line on each letter :-O Flipped it back and the line went. Flipped it backwards again and there it was. In the end.. each reg letter on each side of the boom is completely unique as I had to paint out the outerline on each making the letters slightly bolder. What a tw@t

Next will be the vertical stabs and horizontal stab. WMID had a yellow upper surface on the horizontal stab and the vertical stabs were half yellow to match. Why couldn't you lot all have the same livery. Every one is different! :wall:
