Ben..

I don't want to complicate your Belfast scenery so I'll keep this short. When I loaded that uk_ano_fsx up.. I didn't see the ground buildings at Sutton Coldfield anyway.. only the mast :worried: This is of course presuming I went to Sutton Coldfield and not somewhere else like Lichfield *-) Will have another look but it looked right. The ground tile was Sutton so I guess I was in the right place

Hi mate,

I haven't checked what was in the AVSIM file, I just thought it might include your masts ;)

The two files in the zip are MCX's of the model that's in sketchup warehouse so you can place it where necessary if that's easier ;)

Hello Mate :hello:

No.. just been to both the Lichfield and Sutton Coldfield masts and I don't have the ground buildings. It doesn't really matter.. just odd that I don't have them *-)

Nipped to Pye Green too while I was at it and no TV tower included in that set. It's a bit like the BT tower in Brum and London only round.. not square. I've put the Brum one there for now.. until someone clever makes one  Before trees were planted at the back of my house, you could walk over the common and see the Pye Green tower on the horizon. Can't remember how many towers there were (or are) but they were all in line of sight with one another from the tower in London all the way up north. One was/is off the M40 not far from where I used to live.. the next in line would be Brum I guess and after that, Pye Green. Undoubtedly, there was another north of Pye Green but I can't recall where it is.

Anyway.. that's enough towers and masts for now ;)

Yes
I take it the hydro poly just tells the sim that there is water in that area and I then add a water class poly to change the type of water etc?
No, the hydro-poly properies defines the water-class. The water-mask in the Resample .inf adds the water effects.

As far as I know, not all water-classes work. I always use "Ocean Perennial".

Hi George,

I've drawn a few roads and set them up as "Asphalt 2 lanes Undivided Median" but I don't see any traffic on them, the traffic still disappears at the QMID boundary. Do I have to "join" the new lines to the existing ones in some way?

You don't create roads (roads don't display on top of photo-textures), you need to create freeway traffic, with separate polylines for each direction.

I've been playing with a model of the dock and it almost worked. Unfortinately I only made the walls 3m wide, they need to be at least 10m.

Ben..

Sri to be a pain mate but consider this a diversion from Belfast for a few mins

I'm a bit concerned now that I'm not seeing more bits of that UK_ANO_FSX scenery. The mast buildings weren't and aren't too much of a bugbear as you're more likely to fly into the masts than the buildings below but reading through the list of files.. there are a good number of power stations too. I nipped from Benson to have a look at Didcot Pwr Station (a well used nav aid for pilots in the area) and found it's not there.. well, the towers aren't there but steam coming from them is! :-O

Perhaps I've simply lost the plot :dunno: I read the install instructions and didn't have a SOL in this FSX so used the one that came with the ANO file as instructed. This was added to the scenery library first followed by UK_ANO_FSX as instructed.. I'd have done it that way anyway. All the radio masts seem to be in place but no buildings and no cooling towers/power stations.

Can you do me a favour mate.. go to Benson then head for N51 37.18 W1 15.52. If your install is ok, you should see the towers well before you get to them (there are 6). If they're covered in stealth paint like mine.. you'll get to see 6 bits of steam coming out of the invisible tower tops. I can't see what the hell I've done :dunno: I had a SOL in my previous install which I was tempted to drag over but it's so full of crap, I wanted to avoid doing so if I could help it.

Hi Dave,

I've opened the SLO up in MCX and it only contains 5 different masts (only one BGL file). The BGL's in the scenery folder only seem to contain location data, no models. From looking at the textures in the folder, it does seem as though there is one there for "gen_powertower01" but there is no model to map it to. v strange indeed. *-)

Thanks for looking mate. I was begining to think I'd completely gone over the edge  I'll have a doss around in my old SOL library (and old install) to see if I can find an offending article ;)
EDIT: I don't think I see any of the stacks mate so summat is definitely not right somewhere :dunno:

I gave up on UK_ANO_FSX because I thought the models weren't very good.

I use a modified OBX47130 / OBX48130 which contain chimneys and cooling towers. This is Didcot:

Ah.. towers of varying descriptions otherwise not seen :) The radio masts are adequate George.. even without associated buildings but I don't think I've seen towers since FS9 and I can't recall having this library installed then. Bit's of it are present in the UKVFR scenery set but I don't quite understand it's file structure.. new and saved folders as well as scenery and texture. The relevant tower bmp's are in the new and saved folders.. not in the scenery and texture folders :dunno:

Does that file you've modded still place towers e t c (not masts) all over the UK? Regardless.. it'd be nice to know why even poor models don't show up 8)
