Here's a WIP, still trying to find that elusive wooden building though :help:

It's for FS9.

Well neither had I Ben, because they're labelled "Unstable", and I don't dash into that stuff without the nod from an experienced man like George!
When I did, it was somewhat hard (for me) to find the right download button. Now I have a frightening array of tools.
There's a whole new language to learn. I hope that I can get the hang of it. I'm a slow learner, but the possibilities offered are massive! :-O

Tried to find an earlier post to see what building you were finding elusive. Would you like an extra pair of eyes to search? :worried: <---(not worried, it's just for the eyes)

Hi Chaps,

With George's help I've been learning (a little) and trying to do more research on the airfield with some hel;p from the guys at http://www.airfieldinformationexchange. ... post118257.

I managed to get a freely available (Crown Copyright OSNI) map of the area, although it still has some areas blanked out...

That Belfast Harbour airport had another name and I can't call it to mind...The chaps in the tower there watched me climbing away out of Aldergrove one day in a Meteor VII, bound for Thornaby...They were kind enough to ring Aldergrove to obtain my call sign and they called me up and told me that fuel was streaming from my aircraft. This was confirmed a few minutes later by the Ventral Tank empty light coming on :agree:

Now, I've managed to get the water masks working and used GIMP clone tool to "colour in" the areas of the airfield that are now largely different to how they were. The trouble is I've spent the last two nights until 4am trying to model and I'm just not getting it at all and finding it very frustrating, even using the Trimble Sketch Up (formerly Google). The Hanger list (not including the most of the factory hangers) in the late 50's was...
*1 Bellman, 176 by 95 by 25
*1 Bellman, 210 by 82 by 20
7 Mains, 60 by 70 by 17
2 Fromson, 92 by 70 by 17
*2 T2, 240 by 114 by 25
*5 Pentad, 185 by 105 by 25
*8 Workshops, 84 by 60

I've also seen mention of:-
Sydenham HMS Gadwell:- *5 Pentad, *2 T2, 4 Fromsons, 15 Mains, 1 Squadron hangar, 1 Bellman, 1 Super Robin & 1 Robin
I suspect the 15 mains in this list are actually the 7 Mains and 8 Workshops. I've no idea what a "Squadron Hanger" looks like, although I suspect its an RN thing.

[EDIT] Hi Peter, it was RAF Sydenham from '73 and RNAY Sydenham from Earlier '40's through until '73. It transpires that the RNAY did all of the Sea Vixen upgrades (from FAW1 to FAW2?)

The elusive building is an RAF wooden hut that served as the HQ for 242 OCU at Thorney. Looks like this:

I'm sure I have something similar to the same in one of my sceneries but I can't find it for the life of me. Just looked at all my likely libraries too and not a sausage (not that you wanted a sausage) *-)

Progress is slow, I now have quite a lot of info, but a shortage of accurate models. I'm thinking of looking through the other airfields that I have to try and find a RN Pentad hanger (for now I've just shrunk the T2's to make them smaller) The Ted Andrews Bellman model is the standard type so perfect for one of the two Bellmans, but not long enough for the other. I have managed to completely eradicate Ikea and the new terminal building though  although there shouldn't be so much grass around the would be Pentads, until I get a better understand of what goes in there it will do for now. Lots of nissen huts and these "workshops" and "Mains" that I can't find models for. I remember having problems before with ADE and FSX Planner in that when you draw the various paths / taxiways etc with different materials, they merge in a very undignified way. Anyway, progress so far...
