It's the corner of the large hangar south/adjacent to the "Shoreham" pair previously discussed.

That's the same one that's behind the pitot tube/probe on the SC.1 or what am I missing?

Yep, it is. I thought you meant that the hanger behind the SC1 was the same as the Shoreham one oops

From the looks of the "bombardier" captioning on Bing, only the "Shoreham" hangars and the ones adjacent (i.e. behind the SC.1) were Shorts and the older stuff the other side was I guess just RAF. There does seem to be remarkably little on the 'net about this place. Your colour photo from your first post is now one of the first image hits on google!

Taken 1943, a Sunderland, loads of Sterlings, US Escort Carrier, lots of smaller aircraft and two runways! I wouldn't fancy doing an approach on that North / South Runway! The hanger in your SC1 pic is there in '43.

I've got some feedback from another forum...

A = Aircraft Assembly Building which has now been extended to build the new wing.
B = C04 where fuselage skin are formed and manufactured.
C = R & D and tooling.
D = Flight shed where fuselage skins are assembled.
all the other hangers are the City Airport but when Shorts owned them they were stores , paint shop and Tucano assembly.
