At the end of the day, they both need an mdl and texture folder. MCX will handle these.

I may have been saved the trauma of learning MCX. I've found static versions at Allnodes  Now all I need to do is learn how to place them  I'm sure SAMM2 will show me how ;)

Hi Dave,

Instant Scenery at £18.96 is a must. I use the older IS V1.

I think you're right George. Even though I can't really afford it, it'll make life so much easier ;)

While looking around my old fs installs, I came across a folder in Addon Scenery called EZ Scenery Library. I couldn't remember what I thought I had (Instant Scenery v1) being from F1 and it wasn't.. I had EZ Scenery from Abacus :wall: It seemed to work much the same as I remember and I did manage to populate PeteP's Portsmouth Afcad with a few odd's and sod's but EZs seemed all too keen to throw up errors. I'm sure ISv2 is much better so I'll give it a shot ;)

Hi George, If I have a scenery model that's FS9 vintage, is it a simple case of converting the BMP files to DDS and removing (or renaming) the BMP files in order to take advantage of DDS textures?

Well, using an image editor it is not so simple, DDS images are flipped.

It is exremely simple to convert them with MCX, you don't even need to convert the model.

I've hit a snag with MCX... it doesn't like Windows 8  I have a VM with Windows 7 so I'll try it on that... :)

 No George, my phone is only 7.5 and much as I fancy upgrading to a Windows 8 phone, I'll have to settle for the 7.8 update on this handset. Just trying to install the FSX SDK on the VM now, so fingers crossed. Also found the North of England landmarks I was after with Souter lighthouse etc so not having too bad a day (considering I've only had about 90 minutes on the PC so far :wall:

Hi George, more questions I'm afraid. the more I keep digging up the more I want to do. Have you ever tried using Maps2BGL to create photoscenery? (Or is there something better these days?)
