Team SDB Wattisham Scenery-Lightings

Post by ganite72 »

As a newcomer to this illustrious band Iam hearing about from friends, I thought I would ask if any of you use team team SDB lightnings scenery for RAF Wattisham without any problems?. Having installed a couple of this teams very good products showing other airfields with WW2 aircraft especially RAF Silloth in Cumbria with Ai Mossies, Hurricanes and a good smattering of Hudsons and Wimpies I decided to come nearly up to date with my era of airforce service(64-86) and purchace RAF Wattisham-Lightnings. I downloaded the scenery ok and installation seemed to go ok, in selecting RAF Wattisham from the Fsx Menu it loaded ok but using the spot view I see that I have got a mixture of Army equipment and Lightning era stuff and no amount of tinkering with any settings makes no difference. I have checked the working of my computer from all angles and no faults can be found. also all the other Team SDB's sceneries work ok. Uninstalling all flightsim X and starting from scratch makes no difference so if anyones got the same problem then its SDB's program for Wattisham. Happy Christmas to all members

Hi ganite72 and welcome :hello:

A mixture of scenery points to one thing as far as I can tell.. more Wattisham scenery active. Do you have the UK2000 VFR Airfields for that area? If so.. run the 'options' exe file contained in the route directory of that area then unselect Wattisham from the list.. save and exit. I know scenery areas are supposed to sit on top of one another so you'd expect your SDB Wattisham to have a free hand sitting on top of UK2000 VFR but this isn't always the case. I'm on the wrong pc to check anything but this is what I'd check :)

In general. runways, taxiways, aprons, comms and navaids will be defined only by the bgl in the highest scenery area.

However, scenery items are taken from all bgls in active areas. Designers of an airport should always include an exclusion rectangle to exclude all scenery added by lower scenery areas. It appears that Team SDB didn't do this.

There is a simple solution, create an exclusion bgl and put it just below Wattisham in the scenery library.

Dave is quite correct. There is another version of Wattisham active. (Why would you want it so anyway?) You should only have the one you want to see active. The default Wattisham is automatically disabled by our version as the ICAO code is the same. An exclude is not required if you follow this golden rule.
