Addon Converter X

Post by TSR2 »

Hi chaps,

I've only just noticed a post about this addon which seems to allow FS9 aircraft to work in DX10 mode for FSX. The benefits of using DX10 are that its a much more efficient / performant way of displaying objects (DX9 is WinXP era and doesn't really take advantage of the power in modern graphics cards)

has anyone tried this yet? Any opinions on it? I am tempted. :cpu:

Hi Ben :hello:
It's all your fault.
Looked it up, and found an instant object maker as well.
Bought them both, haven't tried either yet, but come on in - the water's fine!
Must get SOME fun out of them, surely. BUY NOW!!
Happy Christmas All.

I did try addon converterx.

Does what it says on the tin, but I found there was a small performance hit. Doesn't work with all fs9 stuff, but if you want to go dx10 it's probably worth it.

I wanted to swap over to dx10.There have been a lot of improvements made by a guy over at Avsim (sorry can't remember his name off the top of my head) which fix the vast majority of dx10 issues. However, for me, I found that texture loading times seem much longer with dx10 for some reason. Swapping views etc I get the grey blank texture for a few seconds before the proper texture shows, where as in dx9 it's almost instant. Same settings for both. Tried various tweaks but nothing seems to improve it.
Possibly my gfx card isn't up to it, although performance wise it's fine.
