Would you like some screen shots of how it looks in the sim before you buy it?

No problem sir

I appreciate the whole 'Horizon/Playsim' thing is a bit untidy at the moment.. one becoming more formally the other and their site under contruction.. plus the blurb on EarthSim is pretty much the same regardless of which volume you buy, nothing specific. The info is out there.. if you know where to look!

EDIT: One last thing Pete.. the 60cm terrain texture are not the whole southern region but 10 major town areas (I think it's 10). Other areas are updated I think (too much thinking here!) but some remain the same as v2 ;)

That's really very kind of you, Ben. The usual "sortie" for visitors is take off from runway 25 at Tangmere (just east of Chichester and south-east of Goodwood as you probably won't have Tangmere installed) and head west along the coast over Thorney and Hayling Islands to Portsmouth and then Southampton water, the Needles and back via Selsey Bill (which sticks out like the proverbial dog's d**k). If they're flying circuits, entry to the downwind leg is at Bognor Pier then along the coast to Littlehampton, turning left at the mouth of the River Arun onto base leg. The turn onto final is along the A27 just west of Arundel.

Any shots of any of these general areas would be greatly appreciated.

All the best
Pete

Hi Pete,

I do indeed have Tangmere installed (and Thorny) so I'll get some up a bit later on. Just taking the little one to see the dear in the park.

As I said, I've been following Pete's thread on the ORBX forum and now he seems to have got them interested in working with the museum in the longer term. One of the developers has PMd him so we'll have to see what that's all about and there's been another reply from John Venema, the CEO, from which I've extracted this interesting sentence:
John Venema wrote:We may well be in a position to work in partnership with Tangmere and even look to recreate the 1960's era airfield specifically to create the most realistic solution for your simulator...
It'll be interesting to hear from Pete as to what the developer's PM says!

I'm starting to get interested now - I might have to buy England after all. And I MUST get down to Tangmere too!

Ian :)

That's great news Ian! Here's hoping it gets him what he needs

Here are the pics from the circuit Pete described. During the flight I did realise that I have forgotten to reinstall some of my VFR scenery, in particular the Needles so it wasn't a wasted journey

Thank you so much for doing that Ben. It really is most helpful and I'm very grateful. Trev's Tangmere and Thorney really do blend in well with the VFR scenery don't they?

I'll have a run around the same route using UTX Europe and FTX England to make a proper comparison.

Thanks again. All the best.

After an hour or so's reflection, I think my post here was a little too grumpy so I've removed it.

On further reflection Pete.. I think it was here long enough for those at ORBX to get the gist of what was happening and suddenly.. you have some form of result ;) I may of course be completely wrong but I'm a big fan of coincidences :cpu:

Yes, the situation is improving rapidly. After a rather rocky start, things now seem to be moving in the right direction.
