When you go into the sim and select Scenery Library, you then get the add/delete/move up/move down page. This shows the scenery tree from the highest priority (no.1.. the scenery on the top) down to the very lowest. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to install it this way anyway as the CI use block folders.. that is, bits that cover both Alderney, Guernsey and I guess, Jersey when that comes out. There are Guernsey specific folders but it's knowing what hides in the others that's important too. Bugger.. things should be easier than this If I download it again, my bandwidth will be up the spout for the rest of the month. FTX England already cost me an extra fiver onto last months bill and I don't want to do the same again this month if I can afford it.
Yes.. exactly that As I suspected though, that tree looks pretty much the same as mine and I don't currently have Guernsey installed. The airport itself is easy enough to identify but Alderney also uses the same folders. I'll have a sit and think about it. Cheers Mate
Yes.. by default, it installs to C:\Earth Simulations. The CI have their own folder but many of the others are common so it's difficult to see what has gone where It looks like I'll end up having to 'repair' and Make ESI Pack at the same time. I can't be doing with this hassle
I've dropped the troops a line at ES explaining the situation and asking if I can manually install GUE with what I have as all I've really lost is the previous install.. not the installed files. We'll see what they come back with I could actually upgrade my bandwidth from 10 to 60gb per month for an extra fiver but for how many times I go over the limit, it's hardly worth it. Were Helen still at home, I'd have done it months ago
As a follow on from my last.. I cracked the GUE install without having to re-download the scenery again. One thing about ES using common files/folders for the CI is that by repairing Alderney, most of GUE was automatically added. I didn't realise this at the start but a quick visit there showed most of what should be there, in situ. I had to add the airport and perhaps 2 other folders using Garry's screenshot for reference and the only thing wrong was that the runway and taxiways at GUE were on a plateau. In desparation, I looked in the old FSX install and found an EGJB file in Scenery\World\Scenery (not a traffic file) so dragged that into the new install and my GUE is back as it should be.. as far as I can tell
One thing I noticed on the old install having added FTX England was that many of the greenhouses on GUE were misplaced by 90deg.. that is, instead of aligning with the scenery at say 12 o'clock, they were at 3 O'clock. They're fine again in the new, FTX-free FSX
