What do you get for your £20-odd quid with the update discs besides more 3d buildings/objects? I have to say I was tempted to go for them (or even the v3 discs and start afresh)
I only paid £6.00 odd at Earth simulations - yep £200 including P&P (doh - sorry its late)
From the blurb...
High Resolution (60cm) Inserts New to Version 3.0, highly detailed photographic scenery inserts (at 60cm/ pixel) have been provided for 10 towns and cities in the coverage area. These inserts provide significant additional detail, allowing you to fly over the terrain at lower altitude without losing scenery quality. If you would like to install these areas of additional detail, you MUST have already installed the 1.2m Photographic Scenery from the original VFR Generation X Version 2.0 DVDs.
3D Landmarks In addition to the high resolution inserts, VFR Generation X Version 3.0 also includes highly detailed 3D models of 10 landmark objects within the scenery area (bridges, historic buildings, and navigation landmarks). You may elect to install these at your discretion. Scenery Areas VFR Generation X is made up of a number of different scenery areas. Most users will wish to install all of these scenery areas for maximum coverage, however you can elect to install only certain areas of the scenery if your system does not have enough free disk space to install it all. Please see the coverage map below for more details of the scenery areas available for installation.

Flights To help you to find the 3D Landmarks and High Resolution Inserts, we have included a number of flights that will allow you to load Flight Simulator at exactly the right location to begin to explore the new features. These are optional for you to install.
I haven't had a chance to look at it properly and so far I've only been in the North East (aside from bringing the T3 back from Gib earlier, but it was pitch black by the time I reached blighty.
Thanks for that That place that was selling the full V3 set for £40 was selling the upgrade discs for £7-odd each part. If they're only £6-odd from ES.. that's better still. I can live with £6-odd
EDIT: I've just realised something Ben.. £6-odd from ES isn't £6-odd at all. All prices there are shown ex-vat
Bit late to reply here...Ok yes the screenshot didnt do it justice, however what I found concerning was the cockpit windows, even on the home page blurb they look the same, virtually clear... now working round aircraft a lot at the airport I have yet to see the clear cockpit glass like this, they are normally a lot darker, but then again you wouldnt see the eye candy of the pilots! I do have some sympathies though as I hear the Lufthansa lady call up on landing and as hard as I try I cant see her behind those windows... she sounds very much like Private Helga Geerhart from "Allo Allo" one can dream.....
